It's also the Evolve tune. Even with an otherwise stock engine (i.e. still MAF based), Evolve claim 15-24hp with their tune.IMO, you're better off to buy an already developed intake and tune like Evolve's, after seeing the growing pains developing their one (see the m3forum.net threads; I was originally on the initial group buy list when it was under development but pulled out when they started having issues) I don't think you'll be able to do it much cheaper.

That's the 30% reduction Autosolutions SSK. Congrats on the M3, Tristan!

Had a good chat to him on one of the cruises, lovely guy. RIP.

Depends which set of numbers you look at. The Z4M does have a weight advantage. Track E46 M3 Z4 M Coupe Tsukuba 1:07.11 1:12.77 vw Hockenheim Short 1:16.30 1:17.20 Vairano Handling Course 1:22.60 1:23.67 Oschersleben 1:50.00 1:54.51 w Motovision handling course 0:19.79 0:19.22 Serres Racing Circuit 1:35.15 1:36.20 That's from fastestlaps.com. The Roadster times are close and show a bit of an advantage, but it's all going to come down to the driver. That Top Gear E46 M3 time has always seemed suspiciously slow to me. Same speed as an E60 535D (which is 3.6 seconds slower at Hockenheim Short) and an RX-8 (which is 6.8 seconds slower at HS)? Yeah, right. Maybe that was a Black Stig time? The Z4M Roadster and the 1M have the same ring time, but the 1M would be noticeably faster around most tracks than a Z4M or E46 M3. The CSL times can't really be compared to anything else, a huge amount of the time (10-12s at the ring) is down to factory cup tyres, which BMW used to get below 8 min and beat the 996.1 GT3, which did 7:56 on road tyres.

Mine's for sale now: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=570740100

I see similar numbers (14-16) for all city driving. Open road's around 10-11.

235/35-19 fronts on an 8.5" wheel, 265/30-19 rears on a 9.5".(Unless it was optioned with 18" wheels, in which case it'd be standard E46 M3 sizes.)

This one is also worth a read: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=180345

First thing I'd look at would be the rear trailing arm bushings. If they haven't been changed already, they'll almost certainly be bad. Mine were gone at 64,000kms.
-
If I was ever going to change mine, I'd go with KW v1s or v3s. There is a KW distributor in NZ (autoquip.co.nz), but it may be cheaper to bring them in from Europe/UK yourself.
-
It's true that those aren't genuine, but the clearcoat comes off of the genuine 18" M3 wheels just the same.

Your experience isn't unique, unfortunately: http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/449320/ http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/445511/

That's relative humidity, so those numbers are meaningless without also considering the air temperature. The air contains significantly more water at 80% relative humidity at 30°C than 80% humidity at 20°C. Singapore is obviously quite a bit warmer than anywhere in NZ.

I saw that at a Hampton Downs track day last month or so, looked and sounded very nice!

It really depends how you drive and what you're looking for. The 986 Boxster S will be quicker around a track and in a straight line than a Z4 3.0i, and it'll be easier to drive quickly. It's also quite a bit uglier than a Z4. There are some serious engine issues to watch out for in any early watercooled Porsche, especially the first generation 986 and 996s -- IMS and RMS failures, and oiling issues if you're doing serious track work with sticky tyres.

Rumour has it that the next GT3 with be PDK only: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/scoop/ne...-gt3-get-450bhp

Stock? It's not even close, the M5 destroys it: http://www.fastestlaps.com/comparisons/bmw...des_cl_600.html

Did you enable "elective mode" in the game settings? That gives you more control over your skill setup.

You should've seen the Aussie complaining on the forums, they had/have a stronger dollar vs the USD and still paid a huge premium on the 1M. It's not just BMW, though. Porsche are the same, if not worse. I assume all the "luxury" Euro marques are.

Pilot Super Sports (the actual successor to the Pilot Sport 2) would. Pilot Sport 3s are inferior for dry grip/track days to the Pilot Sport 2, confusingly named, and they're a great wet tire.

You can, but you need to ask your insurer. You can also have it installed by non-muppets. I wouldn't recommend using Smith & Smith to anyone after seeing their work and dealing with them.

It's probably still 200kg too heavy.

Trackday - Hampton Downs Open Day Sunday 11th March 2012
kinetik replied to Hi-Tek's topic in Track Day Events
I should've come over and said hello. I was down the other end of the pits in the silver grey M3. First time there in my car, managed a 1:23.6 and a handful of 1:24s. That's probably pretty slow, but better than I expected.
