  1. Cut the front out. Tube bender has gone walk abouts, so couldnt really do much else. Heaps of room for intercoolers and radiators / fans now!
  2. Yep Will do. I also have some factory measurements in a pdf some where that could be handy.
  3. Yeah that looks simple enough and it would keep all the factory mounting for head lights and grills. It won't really work for me though a with it there it does not allow me to move my radiator forward. The radiator would have to sit under the support, and that would be to low.
  4. I'll retain the rear mounting system. So just pins at the front, but I'll use the recessed type with key locks hopefully. Something like this https://touch.trademe.co.nz/listing/view/626158638 The warrant guy can get f**ked, if he does not like it I'll take it some where else. Yup more room for fans! Trying to find a place that sells spot weld drills. I'm quite excited to cut the front out of my car.
  5. Think I will change to a fiber glass bonnet and run hood pins. Not interested in getting the latch to line up, and the release cable has snapped anyway
  6. Non vanos has heavier valve train, larger valve stems etc. Is vanos that unreliable? I thought it just got rattly / f**ked seals. Just rebuild the vanos while it's out.
  7. M52b28. Alloy block lighter as well.
  8. Yes the radiator plastic mounts are a bit piss poor. I had a woopsy in my car the other week and the radiator mounts broke which resulted in the radiator getting munched by the power steering pulley. I need to remove the radiator support so I can move my intercooler backwards, and the radiator forward. As well as fitting a larger radiator.
  9. It can't be that structural. Being a 89 it doesn't comply with any frontal impact regs anyway. So it's fine to remove it and make some thing else. Will also be putting in a hoop at the bottom to mount a sump guard from. Talked to cert guy but as usual it's "just do it and I'll tell you if it's any good or not", but in saying that I flew through my last cert no problems.
  10. Apart from diff, brakes, and front struts. Pretty cheap / easy to swap over.
  11. Heaps of the wiring diagrams online are incorrect. A g240 will be fine.
  12. you can just cut and reweld the shifter m30 gearbox wont work
  13. You could get lucky. I know of a sucker that just paid 8.5k for a 98 318ti.
  14. Charger is prob hitting current limit and turning off. Then trying again in 30 secs and cutting out again. No doubt with a flat battery and the car's electronics it would draw over 4 amps. Try disconnecting the battery and charging it
  15. That e36 is f**ked, I went and looked at it. I asked about interior, he said it was mint apart from broken clip on c pillar trim, and passenger seat sometimes reclines automatically. I asked about tyres, said they were all like new. Said it had been serviced regularly. Sounded like a good deal. First of all, couldnt get car to unlock using the key. took about 10 mins of f'ing around to get it open. Interior is f**ked, trim hanging off everywhere, usual e36 stuff is f**ked. Door seals ripped etc. Rear tyres f**ked, front tyres inside worn excessively. Engine coolant just filled with water, gone rusty. Checked oil, way over full and possibly have coolant mixing with it. Passenger seat just flaps around. Couldnt get passenger door to unlock at all. Around rear right tail light is rusty. That was after a quick look at it, who knows what else will be wrong with it, engine is probably f**ked. Didnt bother taking for test drive.
  16. Anyone know what the deal is with making a replacement / removable radiator support in regards to certification etc? Car is a E30, and I intend on removing the top and bottom radiator support, and replacing it with tube and making brackets to mount the head lights and grills to etc. Something very much like this:

Turbo was sitting too low, oil wouldn't drain properly. I think thats what he's saying. Everyone told him from the start it wouldn't work.
  18. maybe if you run heaps of shitty stretch
  19. Seen quite a few at pick a part, $100.
  20. Or turn PHP errors off.
  21. Some 35mm weldflex would prob do the trick, a lot lighter and more flexible than the OE stuff. You would prob even get away using some 25mm weldflex.
  22. Cant remember what coating mine was, but didnt help with temperature much. Rain still boils off my bonnet when I come to a stop. +1
  23. Technically, it's f**ked. They prob updated php or something, and the old forum software dosent support it so well
  24. Just ignore it, you don't have to reply to them.
  25. Pretty much, any m20 240 or 260 will sit like than on an m50. This is the older style one with the sheet metal bracket, its even worse than the later model.
