  2. that correct have several, PM me for details
  3. sorry cant help,only got e32. try brent o21 433 600.he wrecked a couple
  4. Diffs out of a early e34. medium case.no noises etc. not sure if the case will transvere straight into an e30 but the gears will. could be good for the race series?? $200
  5. clunking/ticking, sounds like metal to metal=not good seen the evidence of #1 inlet valve come adrift and bounce across to number 6 and back to number 1. that was not a pretty sight.holes in pistons etc. your problem could be anything.get it home and start the tear down ps pay the $$ and get a tow truck.saves 1/2 a day shagging round
  6. yes I've got one of those on the shelf. PM me and we'll go from there
  7. sweet as,all the bits are here, waiting for you. if your lucky,my project will be 80% together on the engine stand. depends on how cold it is in the shed and if i can hijack the heater out of the living room as for boring out the block, can go fairly thin wall thickness.5-6mm.so plenty of steel can come out. cheers marty
  8. The thing is, I'm not picking GASTKR as good on the DIY front (no offence - neither am I) so as soon as you're paying for fabrication etc it starts getting expensive fast. The trickier (be it space contraints, high power levels, whatever) the job, the more chance of a ridiculous cost blowout. your quite right,if is going to be done on a budget,DIY is everything,or the numbers ($) become unrealistic. I just finished adding up the receits,so far,i'm hoping its going to be worth it
  9. fantastic, glad your spending the $$ to do it properly.look forward to the numbers
  10. dont listen brent, get it re-mapped to rev the nuts off it.its the only way you be able to keep up
  11. ditch the aircon pump and a stack of room opens up.low mount turbo is a god option.not 100% on the oil drain front, but imagination is the key to all projects
  12. very simple to anwser you Q.the newer models are more popular to upgrade and most of the 'cheap'units are pasted togther in china.very prone to cracking. and no not all mani's will fit the m30.pots are 100mm spaced.smaller 6's are 85mm(?) have a gander at the link provided by Cam. its very simply made.not the steel colour was black now white. very hot.probably glowed most of the time
  13. no dramas mate, i think you can push more pounds of boost in a smaller block, cylinder sleeves are thicker. do check the comppression though.if its too high you can go for the cheap option; and get a thicker MLS gasket custom pistons costed me 1700 odd $$. it is possible, with alittle porting and imagination,to turn the exhaust mani upside down. giving you a top mount. that or using e32/e34 manifolds, again upside down and paste on flange. few guys have done so in the states.check mye28.com
  14. its simple really, how much you want to spend? what material do you want to have? do you know what flange you want to use? wide range of $$.$300-2500.
  15. As title, anyone know of a GOOD outfit? cars on blocks so needs to be of the mobile kind. not going midnight black, thinking 20-35% cars stripped so its a good time to do this mod cheers marty
  16. all things are possible, lets talk-bring check book.prefer not the rubber kind

  18. At 8000UK pounds, for a pot of wax. thats like 25k nz dollars.thats awesome. looks better then factory pity if he did live on a dirt road
  19. yep, very high.great to get off the mark etc.alittle annoying at speed
  20. Tidy, well done. rev wise,i got the same story.its got a 3.91 in the back. so revs round the 3400 at 140kph. if you want to drop the ratio's abit, got a few gears/boxes about the place. check if its large or medium case diff
  21. have a bumper somewhere, bottem valance is crap. have chrome, not sure it will come off straight, sell the whole door, have 2 sets, mint no rust
  22. Pistons have been ordered, will be 95mm forged alloy, flat tops as the compression has been calculated to be 9.3/1 useing the e34/e32 head.not ideal turbo numbers, but am planning not to run more then 10-12 psi of boost and not below 98 octane. Also with the higher compression, will have less lag etc,and with alittle head work should give good number when finished the above from part 1 of the 537i build. boring the pots out to 95mm,so more cc for the same bowl in the head= higher compression. could have taken 0.5-0.7mm or so off the head surface, but we needed to get new pistons anyway. valves are stainless steel blanks, machined down to fit.could have gone with chevy units but the keeper groves were not in the right place. cam i'm going to be using is the early e12/635csi type. refered to as the 270,or the 272. newer engines have the 260 units.so not going wild as such.could have a cam made for round the 500 to my specs, which would make more go.but if the wife cant drive it round town, then i'm not interested
