He died on Thursday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, according to the company, Carroll Shelby Licensing. The firm did not disclose the cause of death. A post on his Facebook page last month revealed he had been hospitalised for pneumonia. Shelby was one of the few prominent designers to work with all three major American car companies, starting with Ford Motor Co in the 1960s. His last collaboration with Ford was on the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. Shelby's high-performance cars helped Detroit challenge the dominance of the Europeans in racing. Ralph Gilles, head of product design for Chrysler, said Shelby created cars that helped enthusiasts worldwide find "joy and self-actualisation."

i would have thought NZ new cars were pretty highly spec'd. The main importer here likes to keep them in the premium category. Only lower spec cars I have ever seen were in Europe or imports.

trick from a motorsport buddy of mine.... get a can of that puncture repair foam / goo stuff that you fire into the tyre. Quickly take for high speed drive & it balances out. Haven't tried it myself but apparently it works ok.

that's a bloody wide rim for the front of a 3 series..... I've got 9.5 running 275's on the front of my M5 and I tell ya there's No room left. Clearance to the strut is "just". Either it will touch on the inside or you will have to run so much offset to clear that the rim will be outside the guard and not WOF -able without guardwork. Not to mention it tramlining like a mofo ....

It isn't that low. It's probably right to point out I don't scrape the car...just the lip.And only on steep driveway's and avoid high curbs when angle parking. Hence my point with John's car...it looks alot lower than mine.

cheaper is fibreglass. Which is still pretty strong. Other is CF. CF will take more work if you want to paint it as you will need to sand / prime. I did one in the Tauranga mall carpark by hitting the little concrete curb at the end of the park, the lip wasn't high enough to clear it. I scrap on most steep driveways. Yours will be worse. So now I have the one on the car and a backup for when I smash it.
