  1. scarily. I have a friend whom has to hold their hands up to work out left and right when instructed of a direction to take whilst driving. If you are wondering - because the left hand makes an L when she holds it up. I hate being her passenger.
  2. sweet as. Cheers fellas. Fingers crossed I find the fault otherwise I might have to see if they will change my entry to the 2wd class.
  3. ah hahahaha..... yes very trueAlso I was under the impression GTR's are 2wd all the way up till you break traction? - yes correct. Any slip angle or wheelspin engages the 4wd to drag you out of trouble. So they need to be driven like a Rwd from the back. Which is giggle inducing fun
  4. You mean no MORE 2wd moments up Mt.Vic. It's happened before. And it's not a road to toy with.Yeah I'm thinking now to take out the switch see if the problem occurs then re-wield it back in. It's too much fun to leave out.
  5. Not exactly a BMW but I thought due to time constraints I might need some other ideas. this is for my R32 GTR racecar. I have an event on sunday so this needs to be sorted tomorrow. The car is fitted with a 2WD switch in the cabin very similar to this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/to...itch-to-an-r32/ Randomly the car has started turning itself into 2wd. It does this when the car is at low rpm. And seems worse the more i drive it. Of course I can just flick the switch & stop and it will go back to 4wd. My thoughts are: dry wield broken wield dirty or damaged switch Anyone have any thing else I should consider? Has anyone heard of this happening to a GTR ? did they have a switch installed?

  8. lol....which is why I don't like riding on the road.
  9. aftermarket exhaust & ECU re-tune. 600+hp and all the sound you want. I so want one. Someone please .....highly spec a black one. I'll buy it off you in 2013 for half the sticker price.
  10. this is just a correction of a bad rule IMO. If you have spent any time driving in Australia you will know this is the way it should be done. I'll be staying off the road on the 25th however.
  11. interesting how loud the turbo is with this setup
  12. performance Airfilter, cold air pipe to it. check exhaust with expert to see what can be improved on. performance brake pads good service Stop there unless you really have the $$ just burning a hole in your pocket. As making a 318 go fast will be expensive. You would be better off with an engine transplant than supercharging what you have.

  14. Is the gearbox holding gears longer and not changing up when it should?
  15. man why. why don't we still have a formula like this. 800kg min 4 cly non turbo based on min 500 production cars 2wd throw in 1400kg min 4 cly turbo based on min 500 production cars 2wd & 1650kg 4 cly turbo based on min 500 production cars 4wd not only do we get some cool racing but there's also some race proven limited edition road rockets for us to buy. Just like the old days.
  16. Yup. Last time I watched them wreak the steel valve on my rays rims, then replace with a rubber one that would have fouled on the brake caliper. I got the guy and asked what was wrong with this picture and he looked at it all confused until I pointed it out. After that I found they "forgot" to replace one of the locknuts on one wheel. Last warrant I stayed and chatted with the guy as he did it. He was actually really good. So it's really the professionalism of the mechanic more than anything. If you think you might need to keep any eye on them maybe you should be taking it somewhere else.
  17. yes welcome. As a Nissan owner with 18" Ray's Gram light's & a M car in the other side of the garage let me say you have fine taste in automobiles.
  18. so it's not possible to get the "flip" key coded for the likes of a E39?
  19. I'd discuss with the insurance company. they must have a policy around stuff like this. Especially with the new privacy laws.
  20. except when your tail lights are in 100 pieces after you reversed into a $250k AMG. have fun paying that off. Why bother paying for insurance when you void it with this type of stuff?
  21. I've shift kitted my M5 along with H&R lowered springs and K&N filters. All are a must do in my book but that's just me. Being a M car it's not too bad stock but I'm always amazed how the sum of small mods changes the car. Yes you can feel the difference with a after market filter, factory are restrictive. You probably wont feel the difference between a $100 drop in K&N and a $1500 carbon fiber pod filter kit however. To replace your filter with a BMW OEM item it will be around $70-80 every year, so the K&N reuseable is a no-brainer. Just don't over-oil it when it comes to cleaning time. Stick with some quality german springs for a slight drop. H&R are some of the best around. As long as your shocks are in reasonable nick then it will be an improvement. I wasn't sold on the shift kit and shortened weighted gearstick until I drove it. Now I can't believe BMW didn't fit it standard. Not a direct 325i comparison but the advice still stands I think

    This dude.

don't get me wrong. The driver got out on the dirt and kept his foot in it. But still why concrete barriers on a straight to keep them left. Wouldn't cones do the same job?

    This dude.

problem is this isn't the first time stupid barrier placement has wreaked a competition car and even injured the crew. probably wont be the last. (Targa nz manfield pit incident a few years back comes to mind as well as a death in a drag event in AUS before that) I would have thought that the organizers of motorsport events had race experience and would have thought through the placement of these. I can only assume they were placed there to protect the next competitor entering the track? If correct why weren't they just foam blocks or tyres?
