  1. 20 years for the classic car register I thought?
  2. As long as it has the service history and a clean report I doubt it would be a problem. There's still a slight premium paid for NZ cars over imports but the initial cost would help you live with that. Suggestion: go for it and let me take it for a spin?
  3. I have to agree to a point. Whenever I see an AMG badge, 9/10 it's the full monty barking bad bajillion kilowatt car. I hardly ever see real M cars, majority are M-Sport versions with the associated M badges all over it. Whilst I'm not against M-Sport versions it does water down the brand somewhat. I wont even start with the owners whom just throw M badges on their 318's. I agree on the cynical limited edition models like that lime rock crap. Come on. I know it's for the idiot North American audience whom wouldn't know what a real track orientated car should have anyway but in today's world any edition is posted up for all to see. They have the M3 GTS and the CSL. They are more than worthy limited edition cars I aspire to own. Leave it there. Lime Rock edition. FFS. KFC carpark edition anyone?
  4. yeah i have to admit it's the best sounding engine going. The auto blips on downshifts and the crackling exhaust on overun. Of course there's the 23l+/100km fuel costs for that....lol...
  5. i have to agree. I like the double light design looks closer to the McLaren of the time. I'm not so much of a fan of the facelift car or their newer fatface design as I call it. But I have to admit the interior quality of their cars have improved with every redesign. My mates 2010 C63 AMG is almost as good as my 2002 E39 M5.
  6. parents have a SL350 whilst a nice car the build quality of these are questionable. alot of cheap plastic floating around in the cabin also put me off. drove nice tho. Just needed more punch than the V6
  7. go back to the shop? I know they did that to mine but they fronted about it. Stuck a temp replacement on and fixed it properly when they got the part in. Big thumbs up on that one tony tyre service! At least they fixed it.
  8. nice. welcome to the forum. Always good to get another wtgn bimmersporter! Q: where did you get your seat re-done? and how much? (thinking of the same thing)
  9. 100k wow that's dropped. I wonder if the original owner walked into the dealership to pickup the car and went...."doh!".
  10. my insurance company (AMI) just asked if it had a factory fitted alarm and that was it.

  13. what an amazing car. I want one.
  14. yes. expensive. but awesome grip dry but especially good in the wet. In torrential rain I overtook cars on SH1 dribbling at 50kph at 100 and it was rock stable. Even through deep standing water. i was super impressed.
  15. when I was working for Subaru in AUS we had 4 forrester turbo's broken into...... just the ECU's stolen.we worked it out from there... However, yes agreed. If they really want it, they will get it. Doesn't matter what security you have. But the question was, would a aftermarket immobilizer be worth putting in to a BMW. Which would be just a waste of $$
  16. the key in a BMW actually 'speaks' to the car to disable the immobilizer. This is integrated into the car electronics and is not easily bypassed. I believe I was told by a BMW dealer it's impossible to start without the correctly coded key. Aftermarket units are wired in, so you can, in effect bypass them if you can find the unit by simply removing the unit. I have also heard of thieves in AUS using forrester turbo ECU's to nick WRX's with factory installed immobilizers which immobilize via ECU.
  17. you marry them first and prey like f**k to allah she's not a trol.... lol.
  18. http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/motoring...-to-be-beheaded Seems they are alittle stricter on "drifiting" in the kingdom..... Report: A Saudi court sentenced a middle-aged joy-rider to death by beheading for accidentally killing two people while performing a car stunt near the capital Riyadh, the Saudi newspaper Al Watan has reported. A pastime known as "drifting," in which drivers make their cars spin and skid at high speed, is popular among Saudi men with few options for entertainment in a conservative kingdom where cinemas do not exist and mixing between unrelated men and women is forbidden. Al Watan reported that the defendant, which it said identified himself as "Mutannish" - "he who ignores" in Arabic, struck and killed two men while performing the thrill-seeking stunt and fled the scene before being arrested. "The court of Onaiza handed down a sentence to kill the drifter 'mutannish' by beheading as punishment for his heinous deed and to deter others who tamper with the nation's security," the report stated. Al Watan did not say when the sentence would be carried out. A Justice Ministry spokesman could not be reached for comment. Saudi authorities have treated deaths resulting from acts of "drifting" as criminally negligent homicides. In 2005, a Saudi naval officer found guilty of killing three minors in a stunt-driving accident was handed a death sentence that was subsequently reduced to 3000 lashes and 20 years in prison, according to local media. Saudi Arabia, which follows a strict version of Sunni Islam, does not have a written penal code and judges issue verdicts according to their own interpretation of the Koran. Amnesty International has said that at least 82 people were executed in Saudi Arabia last year, many of them by public
  19. I'm interested in ppl's comments on this thread also. I always run 98 however there was a point where I was forced to use 95 because of location. I can't say I noticed too much difference. So I'd like to know what i'm paying for?
  20. lol.... she's awesome. I love the bessing the car bit.
  21. I don't disagree. I've been guilty of the odd wheel-spinning launch in my time. But they are always away from ppl and property. But if i'd been caught several times I think I'd be leaving that too for the track. going straight out and doing doughnuts on Sh1 and crashing is clearly someone that: 1) is not in control 2) hasn't the mental capacity to operate a car Why aren't the cars taken and re-distributed to the needy? Rather than crushing? I'm sure there's a family out there that would welcome a new set of wheels.
  22. Burnouts on state highway 1? come on. Idiot. I hope they crush his next car too.
