  1. probably. But why does a '03 need a new tranny? and why is that normal? How many k's are on the car?
  2. 1st gen you mean. (agreed)the later ones look good. I want to get one for the wife (by that I mean secretly me) in a few years.
  3. dunno about through the BMW dealer. I replaced my M5 ones with Zimmerman slotted rotors whom produce the rotors for BMW anyway. $1500. ex germany. I paid about $4k for the 365mm 8 piston BBK kit on my racecar. I realise they are braking a 2 ton SUV but $2.5k for rotors? Man. That's steep.
  4. is anyone else shocked that a 2003 car requires a $5k transmission transplant ?? not to mention $2.5k in rotor's? man i'm glad I didn't buy the X5 4.8is I was looking at a few years ago.
  5. Is yours window mounted? I haven't heard of the rear headrest install? how does that work? I have mine hard wired into the power sunroof using the sunvisor mount. Seriously hard to see from the outside with my tinted windows. Easy as install ...... sing out if you want to check my setup or a hand with an install chris.
  6. US is awesome for shopping... Have you seen CUSCO's? that place is like the warehouse on steroids! Bulk everything!! I bought a luggage set for $100NZD. They have pallets of Dom Perignion ... Rolex watches ... you name it. Plus they have food 'tastings' at each food isle. Just the outlet clothes shopping savings alone pay for the flights and accommodation.
  7. I should also point out...Ka is the main frequency used by all police cars & older film speed cameras. K band is what the new digital speed cameras use. X band is what every freakin thing runs on (garage & auto doors etc.etc). I block both K & X to stop false alerts. K band is used by some other devices as well as the speed cameras. So there is increased chances of false alerts on this frequency. Since camera vans are pretty easy to spot I'd rather my radar is quiet and only sounds on the Ka band when it's definitely police contact that serves up demerits.
  8. they have closed this loophole. years ago. don't bother. they log your demerit as soon as you pay. too many ppl used it. lol.
  9. I have a V1. With disabled K & X bands.I have two cars to use it in. Hard mount in the BM and window mount in my skyline.
  10. I didn't know Renault owned Nissan. Geeze, conglomerates buying up the world!
  11. Quick answer - yes they are worth it.I had a few cheaper units before. They beeped all the time, alot when nothing was there. What happens is you don't trust it and then when it's right... well you get the picture. When my radar beeps. It's a cop. maybe two false alerts in 7 years? They are solid in terms of tech. Secondly is detection time. V1 and STI kill on the detection times. Sometimes I'm driving along it goes off, honestly drive for another 5 minutes before I spot the cop. Amazing distance.
  12. very true....however. I can't count the number of times I have approached a overtaking lane and about to pull out and the radar has gone off. I drive at the speed limit, but overtaking I firmly believe the less time you take the better.
  13. it's the linkage to Infiniti as a F1 sponsor of the RB cars. Infiniti produced special Vettel edition cars last year to cash in on the F1 relationship & F1 title. Funny seeing the Infiniti badge on the RB nose when they give nothing but $ to the team.
  14. 26/26 - I need to get a life....
  15. don't worry with a 3 star safety rating, the PT Cruiser fleet will soon be non-existent. (along with their owners)
  16. I've had extensive experience with both uints. My mate has the STI w jammers I have a V1. About a two years ago we had a argument which was better. So there was money placed on the deal and we researched the subject firstly you have picked the two best units on the market. By far. Either will do the job. from reading the reports and they are pretty much the same. We both could find consumer reports that showed our radar was slightly better in this conditions or that. If pure straight line detection distances is all you care about I believe the STI has a slight advantage in that only. In real world situations they basically work as good as each other. what it comes down to is personal choice on the features. V1 - has the directional arrows to tell you where the threat is. Brilliant for knowing if you just passed the bogey. Or if he's following you. STI - newer looking unit plus you can have the stealth install option which means it totally hidden & secure. (i've had my car broken into twice for my V1). Stealth install takes away your ability to move cars with it however. Jammers - only really needed in Auck. my 2c. [edit - neither of us could convince the other of superiority so bet was off]
  17. fake. all e39 M5 rims were staggered. I have a genuine set in excellent nick with new tyres gathering dust in my garage if anyone wants to make a decent offer.

    Painted Kidneys

yes each to their own. I've had on a black car I think they look better. I'm not sold on any other colour however. I originally painted mine and found stone chips after one drive made it look seriously cheap and nasty. If you are going to do it pay the $ for a good set of plastic ones. I got mine of ebay. Snap on. No issues.
  22. yeah here's another angle shows he hit a tree head on. not sure what went wrong there, either mechanical failure or too fast & got loose at the wrong time. in any case luckily no one was seriously hurt.

    COFFEE!

yes. but if your stateside. It's the about the most reliable you can get.Get a double shot and it's still 100% better than the drip 'filter' coffee americans seem to love. But agreed. It pales in comparison to 99% of the local brewers here. AGREED!
