Thanks Rowan I've rebooked with him. And mobile too! Even better!

Dads given me his bel RX75 that came out of his 996 that's been lying around. When hyper uninstalled it they left the laser shifters in the 996 and paired them with his new system AFAIK. So I've just got the detector, which is being installed next Tues. does it still pick up signal if mounted behind a panel? (Ie rear detector inside diffuser)

Skill would be on a track.

This car used to belong to a guy in his 20s/30s. Saw it mostly in Auckland city, sounds phenomenal. Recognizable by the monochrome M badge on the rear diffuser grille. From memory the plate that was last on it was M3 POWR

Interestingly Dad sent me this last night when he was testing his office's Internet speeds. This is in the Auckland CBD. That was using a wired connection. This is using the same internet through WiFi - Way worse!

Yep we're moving to an area with fibre in Aug and I had to order it specifically to be run to the house

Thanks, I'll do it in the front lower grille for the front mount. The rear is doing my head in - there doesn't seem to be anywhere... Will it be affected behind the rear windscreen (i.e. under the rear brake light at the top?)

I'm getting my RX45 installed soon and am trying to figure out the best place to put the receiver. Apparently behind the kidneys can affect the readings due to it having a metallic surface. I also feel as though under the licence plate could be too low? Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks

Yup I had a look at the Tesla showroom in Newport Beach the other day, very nice! Saw at least a dozen of them while I was in the states too... They may be doing it right but ... I think this past financial year was their breakeven and they've been in business for 10+ years if memory serves me right (which it may not!) IIRC the founder/owner of Tesla founded Paypal.

I've been in the States recently and a business partner of mine has recently sat himself in a hybrid car I hadn't heard of before. It's not your typical Prius! It's the Fisker Karma http://www.fiskerautomotive.com/KARMA.shtml I didn't get a drive unfortunately but it was stunning in the metal. It sports quite a price tag at $100K+ USD, so I'm sure to get one here (if it would even work on NZ power?) would be a small fortune. Regardless, with all the other gas guzzlers in his garage it's cool that he's using a hybrid as a daily!

If in the foreseeable future you can afford not to have the cash on hand, I'd say do it. But if there is any shred of doubt, don't do it mate. Nothing worse than needing the money you just spent.

Car could be one of his kids.

Thanks for the replies everybody. We've got a V1 at home and compared with the Bel systems in our other cars it has not been as effective (in my experience). I also want a stealth install as I don't want anybody to have a reason to break into the car, e.g. Seeing suction cup marks on a windscreen even if its in the glovebox. Thanks Neal for the radar-mirror link, seen it before and looks good! May be an option...

Hi everyone I'm currently in the US and radars are much cheaper than at home so am looking to buy one here. Does anybody have any recommendations? (I'm not after a V1) I'd like to get it hard wired and one with the option (additional price dependent) of jammers too would be good. The Bel StiR is on my radar.. Ha! - anyone got any experience? Thanks in advance

Team McMillan repaired a power steering leak when it came up in PPI. If any issues persist, I'd suggest taking it back to them as they may've cut corners or something ...

Looks nice but no mention of service history and don't like that he's said it's cheapest M3 on TradeMe when it isn't.. I'd look into the service history. These cars NEED oil changes at the very most every 25,000kms (Tom?) but I see 7.5k intervals on the US forums a lot, assuming this is miles. At that mileage it should've had Insp. 1 + 2. I'd assume that a valve clearance check would be needed by that mileage too. Obviously if you take it further the subframe and everything need checking. If I did it over I'd be inclined to take the car to Ray @ HellBM as obviously he knows the E46 M3s inside-out.

Nice colour, almost a matte Laguna Seca blue. Agree on black roof. Think it also needs a drop & bigger wheels. Don't like the idea of stripes.

Yep, got a ticket for this.

Welcome to the forum! lol.

Tom and Ray are right, the CSLs are SMG for a reason. I didn't get a very good drive of the one I was testing and I'm sure I'd like it but I had my heart set on a manual (for whatever reason) and knew that if I didn't get one I'd just regret it further down the line. You never want to get in your car and think "what if... I got it in black, I got it in red, i got a manual, I got an SMG" if that is what you truly wanted! Best advice is give both a GOOD drive, learn and understand the SMG software before you test it, i.e S1-6(?) etc. The CSL reflash is pretty cool though!

Trademe is down until 5 but just curious, have you driven both SMG and manual?
-
It's an import too.. Probably with no service history. SS exhaust? Stainless steel, not Supersprint.
