Whoever sells these must make a fortune. So many clueless people buy them.

G'day. I am after a skilled Tig welder based in Auckland to perform a few jobs for me. Give me a PM if you would like to talk about what I am needing done, I can supply pictures etc and we can discuss cost rates. Thanks in advance. Mike.

Mmm it would have to be cheaper, usually when you buy a car at a premium price it comes with a full tank of gas. This just doesn't make sense. Also who 'expertly' maintained this vehicle.. the lads at Team McMillan BMW or someone similar?
-
An episode of Mythbusters covers exactly what has been talked about here. Unfortunately I can't find it on the internet. .

Thats what makes me laugh when people say 'get a cheap daily driver, like a corolla' Errrrrrr in my mind thats stupid logic, buying the least safe car possible that you would be driving most of the time. Should be the other way around!
-
Yeah, youre more so right I believe. I'm merely voicing 3rd or 4th hand opinions from someone that may have already had it wrong in the first place. Clearly I am no safety expert. But regardless, by todays standards an E36 is out of date, then again it appears to be reasonable for its design time of the late 80s early 90s, especially compared to all other cars of its class.
-
Precisely, from what I have seen the E39s are the safest & fastest car for the dollar. (540i) However whats rather annoying is that I have spent all this time converting my E36 to run a V8. Part way through the conversion and now I don't want to own the car! I just know I can't enjoy a car knowing it's safety is bellow par and performance somewhat high. Not a good mix, may as well get a WRX if I wanted that! Sigh. Ah well, I am sure someone would like to buy it when its 100% complete and road certified.

Yeah E36. Considering the driver survived its remarkable. They get a 2-3 star crash rating at 64km/h. However, I would assume the other car involved was an unsafe Japanese car, so it would have acted like an extra crumple zone for the BMW. If the BMW hit a safer car, say a 5 star car then it would been the other way around, the the BMW driver would have had no chance. Time to upgrade to an E39 I think......

Not surprising, they were designed to run with a higher octane.

Nice car, ideal as a daily. Put some good wheels on it and enjoy. I wouldn't do anything else or it will just cause it to depreciate more. Also, keep the orange indicators. Nothing wrong with them. For what it's worth you could spend the same money on something to upgrade stereo or whatever else thats of use. .

They are real ones, but apparently just made to a sloppy standard, mainly the balancing is off, so they can be off balance when you have them fitted. Been told this a few times from different tire suppliers. Other good tires you can get are Bridgestone RE001s, a high performance summer tire, with a a degree of performance in the wet, I've used them on two of my cars and be pretty chuffed.

High performance engines in vans have always been considered pointless in my mind.

What a fantastic car you have there Mike. I'd recommend some H&R or Eibach spring kits. As for the wheels, I guess your going to be paying a fair wack for genuine 19" BBS wheels..... but maybe a compromise of 18" wheels could be an option as they tend to be a fair bit cheaper and more common, at least that way you can stay with proper quality OEM brands - what a BMW deserves. Regarding the tires, all I can say is watch out for Chinese made Eagle F1s, they are no where near as good as the German made ones. Excellent tries if they are made properly.

Sounds rather brilliant. He should bring it along to a meet, or get another member here to take some dynamic pictures of it.
-
Heh not to mention the styling too, RS4 > HSV I can't get over how tacky the last run of HSV VE have been. Horrible!
-
Pretty sure I saw you driving through Ellerslie today.
-
Factory exhaust sound good too. ^ Though I am puzzled why the owner has put an el cheapo jumper lead set in the back of the car..... an RS4 deserves better than that, plenty of nice high quality German, UK jumper leads you can buy.

Dear god thats not music, that is just the epitome of an auto-tune noise. Shoot her!

Chances are an Import M3 will have better features that some of the NZ new ones too.

What sum do earlier E92s go for in the UK at the moment?
