Yes! This here lies the exact problem. If anything it makes people worse drivers.

Bargain! Haha, deary me! Ugly as apposed to what?

I don't really see how Ron is 'trolling'.. He's just making his valid point clearly with out beating around the bush. The experience between a DCT and a true manual is pretty significant. Pulling a plastic paddle is considerably different to the process of shifting gear and operating the clutch pedal in a synchronized manner. No doubt a true manual car gives you greater control and connection with the car, especially on a track. Automated manuals are just another way to disconnect from a more involved driving experience, sure they can be quicker and fun, but the difference is anyone can flick a paddle, no skill involved with that, but shifting fast in a true manual is something not everyone can do.

On paper the 12 seems more impressive but in reality the M60 V8 is far more alluring, a more modern dohc 32v design, unique lovely sound, I do have a soft spot for the induction noise they make. Fabulous!
-
But then one wouldn't have a classic looking BMW E34 with the iconic lights and grille in their most majestic form!
-
Yeah my thoughts too Lionel I think if one was to take it serious its a 3-4k+ suspension overhaul for any E34, otherwise a lot of enjoyment will be lost. In 2009 I had one but just lacked the experience to know where to start, but I did also discover the driveshaft hanger bearing was shot too, so those factors also need to be addressed.

Just spotted this example, looks pretty sharp and not shabby like many out there. Though pics can hide much detail. Definitely the model of choice for me if I decide to return to a BMW one day. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-853636053.htm

Yes. But how do you do that? Lifters on an S54 are solid so I don't follow how you 'reset' then. I've always been under the impression the only way to 'adjust' valves is to replace the shims to the correct factory thickness.
-
I think the guy who bought my E36 Coupe 1UZ V8 is looking to sell it for around 8k
-
Surely you would have to replace the valve shims to get the right thickness & return the quieter function That is what would be causing the tapping. Quite a common normal wear and tear thing.

Interesting to see Lexus / Toyota is doing it with their 5L 2UR-GSE V8 engine, chain with plastic lined metallic guides / tensioners... I wonder how they will last, given its a new thing for Toyota engines.
-
Yup, those are horrendous. Enough to stop me wanting one.
-
Indeed, not a good design at all compared to the M60 Great way to limit the life of the engine before an M62 major service is required. Ideal for the accountants?
-
That is ridiculous.
-
Hah, gutted. The irony of me on Sunday asking if you had managed not to curb your wheels!

JPC Trade will bring you what you want
-
Looks like a fun project. Keep it up!
-
So, 4 cylinder E90s are the devil?
-
Looks fabulous! Good to know such a car can be brought through with the special interest method. Oh my, are you sure the 8er can handle those northern windy roads?
-
JPC Trade is fantastic
-
Indeed. My ideal kind of E46.
-
Definitely go for a 2004-2005 E46 2.5-2.8-3.0L You wouldn't regret it.

Ah ha, think you might make the meet in Penrose?
