    Oil leak

Below manifold on downpipe, but looks like it has blown back there. Majority of oil is on bottom part of motor/sump, predominantly drivers side.

    Oil leak

Thanks again, I hope sump gasket. Have no space/time or tools to tackle myself and it needs to be back on road asap. Didn't want to drive it too far, so couldn't get to you Glenn. Found other thread re Carbond so will follow that up too. Cheers.

    Oil leak

The (E30) 325 has developed a fairly substantial oil leak, which I think is the sump gasket. The bottom of the engine is covered in 20+ years of dirt and oil, so hard to pinpoint, but it's also dripping on the exhaust. From the limited description, does it sound like I'm on the right track?
  5. I have the same as Bravo I think, sort of a beige colour, soft, perforated. Very good, but be aware that it will blow off in a good wind. I secured mine with a stretched bungee cord, which is not ideal if it's a daily.

    Carjam update

The quote for my car sounded way too low, I checked on the Turners site to see what they'd compared it with, completely different model with 3 x the k's, it has a way to go before I'd trust that.
  7. I think it's a different car. Wasn't the other one dark blue? Looks mint.
  8. I think the S Type is an awful looking car, as is the X Type. The XK is interesting and nice to drive, but I wouldn't touch it for repair costs. A friend had one, a piece of plastic fell off something and lodged itself in the engine, $5,200, two months later the gear box went (common apparently), $7,000, then new brakes, $3,000. That was in the first 5 months. Add $900 for a rear tyre and expensive general servicing and it's no wonder the V8 powered cars are cheap second hand. Pity, because I would love an XJR saloon.
  9. According to the owners manuals, 9.7 CR on the PFL and 8.8 CR on the FL. Quoted at same power and torque figures though. . . . .

    325i Intake Pipe

Sorry, have the intake manifold and throttle body, but not the pipe you're after.

    325i Intake Pipe

I think I have, will check tonight. If I do, you can have it.
  12. Cork washer off the throttle body, well under a dollar, can't remember the exact price.
  13. I believe so. Do you know the definition for self righteous do gooder?
  14. I've had one for 56 in a 50. That's just wrong.

    1996 328i coupe

I know of a manual 328i coupe coming up for sale, will post it up soonish.
  16. Gavin at Euro Italian, forum sponsors. About $135 from memory, but they work properly, unlike the 2 $85 units I got from Autostop or somewhere.

An X6 and you'd probably lose the moment altogether.

    Nz Herald is sh*t

It's not clearly written when they give two power figures for a car with one name, they should have defined it better. I would love to drive either, had an S55AMG with 368kw for the weekend and it was magic. On topic, of course the Herald is sh*t, what other paper has to print a list of retractions for the previous days mistakes?
  19. Really? I'm not a Mitsi boy, but I was under the impression 4G63's were thrashable. Have a few friends running 1 bar boost on standard block Evos 4-7 Most of them for more than a year now with the odd track day. Tuned by ST-Hitec. 300hp at all four wheels. Guys in US have 350+ unopened motors and 500+ with stock bottom end. I had a friend who used to sell them, he used to get Evo 1-4 back quite regularly from the boy racer set with a rod through the block. He thought they might be better from 5 on. I have no idea, just repeating what he said and he sold plenty of them.
  20. I had an S55 AMG Kompressor for a road trip last weekend, that was pretty much the average from Thames to Coromandel.
  21. The 4G63 had/has a reputation for putting a rod through the block when thrashed, not my definition of indestructible. The Lexus V8 in 4.3 litre form is a very strong engine and I would bet it produces well above the Jap industry standard of 209kw.
  22. I saw it parked on the side of the road y'day, looked tidy at 60km/h. Wheels looked a bit balloonish though.

    Daily Driver

You can get an Altezza for sub $10k at Turners and I know someone who just bought one from a dealer for about $10.5k. The dual mass flywheel is expensive to replace which is why you see so many available 2nd hand with TRD light weight ones. They drive nicely, but I found it not overly exciting until you revved it hard, maybe that is the description of a daily?? What about a Torneo SIRt or Euro R?
  24. About 6 months ago, I parked up the convertible (E30) in a garage and took the battery out. Put the battery in today and it fired up first time, but I assume there was a bar that secures the battery to the tray? There is a bracket thing that clips over the battery, but no long bar to secure it to. I assume there was one? It's been so long I can't remember. Anyone have one handy or know where to find one? Cheers.
