  1. Tall gearing and the extra weight an E34 is carrying might be something to do with that, not such a problem with an 1100Kg E30 and a 3.64:1 diff.

    JUNGLE

A modified steering shaft and spacers between the rack and X-member would point to a E36 rack, could it be a E30 M3 rack????
  3. You can't just fit the M50/M52 head onto an M20 block.Swaping the whole engine has been done though.M30 swap is easier and cheaper and will give you between 211-218HP at the flywheel depending on the year.
  4. I can arrange shipping (Air) ex L.A. for $2.30 U.S./Kg. With a minimum charge of $35 U.S. So a 40 Kg diff head would cost around $150 NZ. Moving it to the depot in L.A. is extra as is sending it anywhere other than Auckland.
  5. 250 HP at the wheels from a 2 litre without forced induction, please stop my sides are hurting.Dump the M20 for a 3.5L M30, you still won't have even have 250 HP at the flywheel, but it will be frighteningly fast. Also E36 M3 injectors don't work well in the open loop injection system your engine runs, they will just send your mixture rich and you will lose power.

    engine fitting

Some 320 gearboxes will work with 325 engines depending on their age. 320, 323, 325 mounts are all the same.

Andrew I was talking about my NZ new 84 toyota not the BMW, sorry for any confusion
  8. The "E" numbers are chronologically based around the release dates of each model with a few exceptions. E3 1968 saloon E12 1972 5 serise E21 1975 3 serise E23 1977 7 serise E24 1976 6 serise E28 1981 5 serise E30 1983 3 serise E30/5 3 serise touring E30/16 3 serise 4WD E32 1987 7 serise E32/2 7 serise LWB E34 1988 5 serise E34/16 5 serise touring E36 1991 3 serise E36/2 3 serise coupe E36/5 3 serise compact E36/3 3 serise touring and on and on and on............
  9. Try not to break it, as they are a real weakness in the E30 they are hard to find second hand and expensive to buy new

Your car won't get a warrant without a hi stop light if your car was registered after a particular date, but I'm not sure what the date is. My 84 didn't need a light but if I fitted one it had to work & my 88 must have a light and it must be working. I think the date is somewhere around 1987 when the importing restrictions were relaxed.

    Glovebox torch

Is there power at the connector??? May need new Ni-Cad's, they only have limited live span just like the one's in the S.I. board.
  12. I have everything apart from the glovebox & a couple of the door sills. Also I have a centre console, if painting yours black doesn't work out for you.The only prob is getting it all down to you Anyone from Auckland going to Christchurch for their holidays want to help out??
  13. Yes it's true, plenty of them come in crashed or badly repaired overseas & have to be sold as scrap.Turners sell a few of the from time to time, but in 8 years of looking I've never come across a S38 powered one
  14. Abby, were the starters different between the auto & manual? What was the auto diff ratio ?
  15. A nice straight, rust free 2 door shell.
  16. I have some interior parts Surge, I could send them down with your bumper, just give me an idea of what your after. Also there is a 320 parts car on Trade Me down your way ( reserve $500, closes Wednesday)

    83 320i

    Early 320 & 323 (83-mid 85) only have 3 studs on the exhuast manifold.325 exhuasts all use 4 studs.So it won't fit without cutting & welding.
  18. I have a rear bumper in perfect condition & I know of someone who would buy your old bumper off you if it's in good nick.PM me.
  19. You can get scruffy E34's for $2000 and up, so I wouldn't want to pay more than a few hundred for a E28.$6000
  20. www.e30.de/335i/16.htm shows the wiring differences between m20 chassis & m30 engines
  21. It should all just bolt in as long as you use every M30 specific part from your parts car.The only thing you may find confusing are the colours on the wiring may be different between your car & the M30 engine if they are not of the same year.
  22. Do you still need the No.3 HT lead for it?? I could only find one in all my junk. It's 650mm long. Is that the right one?.I'll have it at work tomorrow if you want it & a steering wheel for Dave too.
  23. I've only got a right hand one, but they are almost the same. The only difference seems to be that it dosen't have a fitting on it for the OBC temp sensor.Do you want to give it a go??
