    dashboard

About $400......less if you take it out yourself, the labour required to take it out and refit it is the bulk of the cost.

    S50B30...

    Is this a new law?
  3. I thought I just said it probably won't fit.......I'm confused
  4. The M20 box will fit the M50 engine, but the combination of a M50 engine with a M20 box will not fit back into a car originally fitted with an M50 engine. The different engines (M50/M20) sit on at different angles in the engine bay, so the mounts cast into the gearbox casing are in a different posistion in relationship to the bellhousing to compensate. For example the M50 engine/M20 gearbox combination must be used if you if you were fitting a E30 with a M50 engine to keep the engine at the same angle as the old M20 engine sat at to avoid any clearance problems. Fitting the M50engine/M20 box into a E34 would push the engine onto the same angle as the old M20 would sit in the engine bay, not a problem for a M20 but could create clearence problems for the wider M50 head and at the very least need custom mounts etc.
  5. bdogg, as your car was originally an auto there is no way it could be an iS. E30iS were only 5 speed.
  6. Why does he need a wiring diagram, all radio wire colour codes are the same or very similar?
  7. M42's fit but are rare and not that powerful so why bother. 2.5L M20 just as easy to fit, more powerful and easier to find.
  8. Carl are you still looking for a diff? Trade Me Link

    manual 320i

It already belongs to someone on bimmersport, their user name is the same on trade me. Why dont you approach them direct?
  10. No you don't the body is rubbish.
  11. Worn rear sway bar links or muffler hitting the body.
  12. 320's don't have hydralic lifters.
  13. You don't have a speedo cable so the noise isn't coming from there. My guess would be rust under the battery or the rubber grommet around the ECU wiring has fallen out.
  14. Just take the bulb out if you want to disable it.
  15. Does anyone have any details or better photo's of this. What does it look like from the back??

    Ruined E36?

Just needs some stickers from Jap tuners to finish it off.......Mugen perhaps
  17. Prices vary massively depending on the damage. I don't see many E36 for under $1000 any more, but you can expect to pay up to $4000 for something repairable. To give you any idea on price, the 325 I mentioned was a real mess, all wheels & suspension bent, roof caved in, all windows broken etc. The running gear, interior, boot lid, spoiler & tail lights were the only usable parts on it.
  18. Engine conversions don't have to cost you anything if you do it yourself.I sold my old motor & box for more than the new one cost me.
  19. Check that the coding plug on your instrument cluster is not the problem. My light sometimes comes on & giving it a tap on the plastic panel just below the light will make it go out again.
  20. I'm with Jonty on this one. M50 swap would give you the least hassle & most power for your money. I watched a rolled 325 E36 sell for $2200 today at an insurance auction, it would have given you everything you needed.
  21. Electric fan relay & low speed resistor failure is a common problem in E36's, also the viscious fan clutches are rubbish so be sure to check that too.
  22. The dash isn't perfect, it has 2 small cracks. Crack No.1
