  1. hay guys who do i speak to about sponsoring the forced induction forum?
  2. this seems to be going well i would still get some better rods and pistons to keep it reliable even tho you wanted to go it on a budget after changing engines a few times youll be wishing you had spent a little more. the down side of the hx is the lack of turbine hsgs to pick for most are 16cm or around 1 a/r not making it that responcive but i can fit garrett hsg to them of needed. how much do you realy want to spend on the build?
  3. opps sorry been rather tied up with work, what power are you aimming for and any future mods as such? theres manay many different turbos to pick from for different reasons like budget etc.
  4. For what they are worth get some new lower arms new ball joints on the rack, m3 caster bushes and as has been meantioned regarding the wheels plus new disc and get them machined on the car to doublely make sure they run true. I run "0" toe and it handles well with no vibration at all including under brakes, i also have bilstien all round and braided lines etc runs great.
  5. the m20's ive done i used m10x1.5 100mm long capscrews works a treat and far better than stock, pull them down to 65 ft/lb
  6. s14 bmw? nice engine im just finishing off a m42b18 turbo cheap mans version but still pretty dam good.
  7. glad to hear it turbo i hope? got watch to out for us dodgy turbo guys
  8. Again for what your after just use stock valves i can give you a big shopping list of what im doing but by the time your finished youll be amazed how it goes and what it costs, all the hidden things soon add up
  9. I would go with BM Weapon on this it comes down to what your doing and as he's stated studs MLS more than covers most people at that level,as for the welding i would have to agree these alot of heat going into covering each hole thus i would heat treat it afterwards but forgive me if im wrong but arnt the heads prone to cracking under the cams towers? Dont take this wrong but the difference between a race tune and great tune is the same thing, nothing. The tune is done on whatever octane you chose will determine what it is regarless, theres alot more to making power than sticking more boost in it i did a stock maloo ute on pump gas running 12psi making 500kw wheel. The art of making power is thinking smarter!
  10. i had a customer i sponcered a few years ago and he was also sponcered by HPC and nearly everything in the car was coated, i tuned it before and after and all i can say was it stayed cleaner longer!!! When running on leaded race gas it does stop headers going rusty, then again of you apply VHT the way its meant to be that also works well, if you look to what the big boys use in racing thatll give you an idea to what works best.
  11. ........................................
  12. your close it made that power at 6500,its a 4.5 taken out to 5.4, 8 throttle bodies and some alky i cast the turbos myself and the video thats been pointed out isnt the boat, its a jet sprint boat belonging to graham hill. i also did the turbos for mark chromey world record holding endurance boat that makes a little more power at 1900hp on 14psi, cant go too bad hes won it 5 times. i have pics of grahams motor when i figure how to post them
  13. pod filters are not good for induction just convenient, a well designed air box using a panel filter wins hands down and theres a good reason why they spend so much on a race car induction system and you wont see to many pods being used.
  14. just putting together my m42 at the moment just got the block back from rebore, fitting JE pitons,m50 rods, arp thru out etc having to weld the head due to cracking as thy do,also fitting the m20 bearings on the thrust side but then aagin im turbing so push for a little more power than what your after.
  15. dont get me wrong im not bagging just asking based on what ive done, if as meantioned about doing a TT setup i also did a vh45 nissan with twin with my own turbos i make and that did 900hp and 800ft/lb on 6psi its in a jet sprint boat belonging to a graham hill if anyone wants to check my BS.
  16. sorry got that wrong the owner said it was 12psi it made that power, cant give the turbo specs as thats up to the customer to tell but i will say its not that big well not in my books
  17. ive done many turbo and superchargered 1uz to which is why i asked, the last one i did with a turbo at 14psi made 360kw stock internals. you will lose some with the blower over the turbo but even at your boost level it should be making more, even n/a wer've making more than that but i guess in all fairness everyone does things differantly and please no one go on about roller versus hub dyno there shouldnt be bugger all in it if the correction facts are done correctly.
  18. just out of interest but why is the kw so low?
  19. FJ20 is by far a better motor than a sr20
  20. the last m20 turbo i did we used some m10x100 12.9 cap screws and pulled them down to 70ft/lb, worked great and easy to get from a local bolt shop then again arp arnt that expencive
  21. ive seen people make "j" pipes using stock cast manifolds that appear to work fine, i would how ever change the turbine housing to a 18-12cm
