z4m or 335i? sounds awesome, would be a good meet! ollie..poll the front page
-
2 PO owners right thur ladeez and gents...keepin it in the family yo..tight!
-
well, cheaper than a 2.7! i probably wouldnt do it..was thinking the other day it would be nice to have a little more power than a 325i but still have 4 cylinders..duh. you can see why they made the e30 m3 that way..its a hard q, i dont think the m30 is that worth it, but it is a cool swap, def gives you a really nice cruising e30 esp on motorways...would be a nice long trip car if i remember right an m30 is around 60kg more than the m20? a hefty amount for the front of the car depends what sorta e30 you want...m20 is ok...would probably turbo that to get 250 - 300 hp instead of most other options
-
you can also use an e23 m30..they pretty cheap. beauty about the m30 is that it uses the m20 loom..plug n play baby! drove an e30 m30 the other day...5 speed e30 m3 dogleg close ratio with 3.64? LSD..was a helluva lot of fun! not super powerful but damn torquey...feels like a grown up 325i. can kinda imagine it being pretty tough to drive fast around corners without suspension work to correct...was fun though on another note am loving the 318 in twisties...they huckin fandle!
-
sorry j dog need this for my mums car now. love e30s
-
used for the drivers side although doesnt really matter...no rails included. black in colour. $100 or highest bid in 3 days can include a passenger seat mounted on rails for the e30 for $175 (ie you could probably use the rails for the drivers side i THINK..not 100% certain) dont know anything about certification or anything so pls dont ask! cheers guys

well OMMFG n00b of the year award take the injector loom off...notice#5 is twisted and not facing forwards like the rest rotate it back straight again and... it works im an idiot sometimes. thanks for the help especially will! after all that was just the AFM, and a dodgy spark plug wire so now just need an AFM (anyone has anything cheaper than $70??)
-
adjusted clearances...car does run a lot better...still got the annoying misfire...its almost a shudder that is constant throughout rev range. like its running on 4-5 cylinders. put another set of plugs in and these arent carboned up (well 3 so far arent..havent checked the rest) cant see any sparking will, not in pitch dark kinda hard to do the injector thing as the engine is lumpy anyway..seems like #5 MAY be not buzzing, but is really hard to distinguish from the rest of the engine going to gavin bellar tomorrow so will have to see how he gets on, i dont have time any more...bugger!
-
10 thou....same as .25mm as according to bentley?
-
sweet, will do once it cools down
-
yeah i rebuilt the head...didnt realise valve clearances changed after initial setup..car was running fine for a good week or two after doing the head without touching the valve clearances again so i would imagine they are ok? taking it to mechanic tomorrow if i cant fix it before then!
-
dunno..can you check if the afm plug has 4 or 5 pins? mine has 4 so i imagine it needs the same
-
sweet..is it facelift? may need to steal for the weekend, no prob giving it back after gus
-
no tracking on dizzy cap..has been off a lotta times recently too! the afm isnt sticking, not sure what is but almost seems to be sending the wrong fuel signals to the ecu and injectors...the test one works fine..still unsure about misfire though
-
yep...and its fine i hate e30s so much
-
well sorted that...had an injector wire coloured wrong so i wired up wrong..my bad got it running..most of the plugs have cleared up a bit but the #5 one is still fouled, and it sounds like its missing on a cylinder so im guessing its that one. AFM swap has helped heaps, thanks jock. so need to find myself a working AFM! anyone got one? still got that misfire problem..keeps shooting wee flames out the back and big vibrations when running
-
anyone got one? need one ASAP that works preferably!
-
well..a borrowed AFM helps...(one injector plug had pushed itself out...n00b) and it seems better but its kinda hard to tell as its running on 3 cylinders... if i unplug 2 4 or 6 makes no difference to running of the car...im sure those 3 are connected somehow...ah wel..back to it!
-
undid all injector wires from plug..re did them. borrowing an afm that works...now she doesnt start must have done spark plug wires wrong. nice healthy spark too..must be an fueling/electronic prob gayness!
-
north america nuba steve
-
also...should not the AFM's resistance increase constantly...mine rises then drops down before rising unsteadily sound about right (well wrong, but may have found my problem)
-
may have a lead the injector loom under the manifold, most of the connectors seem to have continuity of some sort between each one..surely not a good thing! so they are not acting as individual injectors but one..that sound right will? out comes the soldering iron/hammer
