I know, i was hassling a 325 on the backroads today i can see why most wouldnt bother then, just an engine thats kind of in-between old and dohc.

Just wondering, been having a look around the interweb and cant seem to find any m40 turbos, is there a reason this engine in particular hasnt been turboed? seems to be m10s and m42+'s but no m40s or link me to one?

Nice Touareg! from memory that would be the air suspension dial on the right behind the gear lever? Fun trick suspension if it is. Is that plastic box under the park brake a jap toll system?

My car appears to have been a factory delivery to the Coombes family (of Coombes Johnston bmw) Where it was picked up in Germany and covered 4500km, and then bought over (interestingly complied without 3rd tail light & rear headrests, unusual for e30?) and sold probably as a "demonstrator". Then 3 nz owners before me.

Thanks for the complements! I got it off trademe (like many good things ) from seller "a.r.t". Hidden in the listings as "carbon air induciton" gah tardme english is so crap. Taken it the drive to work and oh boy is it throatier, not like a 1.8 at all and its not sucking in hot air anymore from a cheapo pod filter so im pleased.

Yay an early Xmas... taken delivery of some bilsteins And a carbon airbox! Ok, probably going to get the 'ricer' comment here and fair enough, but the carbon cylinder houses a full-length cone k&n style? filter in it, came with all the necessary clamps hoses and ducting that fits it in nicely to the stock position! induction sounds alot better too, cant wait to take it for a drive! not a bad bit of kit for 100 odd bucks. woah just got a look at the pics as im uploading them and they're not bad for a cameraphone eh?!

got both, e30s each with & without sunroof, next to no difference. agreed that headroom is plentiful.

correct- im buying Bilstein HD shocks off ebay at the moment (en route from the states ) they are costing $167.50ea i.e. $670 for the set (landed price, insured shipping).
