BMW Car club, how many members here?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how many BS members are also BMW car club NZ members.

I'm debating weather to join or not, thinkin' it may be beneficial because of the upcoming restification (restoration/modification) of my E3.

All e30 race series and open class people are members. It is part of the rules.

I'll be interested in the responses to this. I've debated the same question, and held off joining because I figure there's probably more help available on the interweb than the local club. With only a few dozen E3's remaining in NZ, there can't be a great deal of E3-specific knowledge in NZ, even amongst the club members. Is that the case?

I encountered this dynamic with the BMW bike club and the prevailing attitude to older bikes. They are tolerated by most and encouraged by a few, with a general lack of interest toward any bike that doesn't appear in the current BMW catalogue . . . .

Id also be keen to know who belongs to both.

My boss belongs to it with his e39 530i and whilst moving office today i found an old Dixi magazine so took it home for a flick through.

Don't know how many younger members they have rf how they accept Modded bmws?

I'm a member...probably more for MSNZ licence than anything though.

They do have some younger members, and yes they do accept modified BMWs. You also get some discounts, etc.

I just joined in the last week - mainly to get into intermarque racing. But having said that i'm sure there will be other perks. Little bit disappointed in the $75 it cost to join. Is that the going rate to join a car club for a year?

The price is pretty good, considering the BMW CC NZ has been around for alot longer than people think... 27 years and still counting ,...if you want to join the american muscle car club its $70, HSV $80, Mustang club $60 or if you are really feeling the pinch of the recession....join Fiat....$35 or just splash out with the Ferrari Club $146.60.......need i say more??

I'm a member, I don't see how $75 per year is a big deal really?

The magazine is a good read and there's quite a few club events throughout the year.

I'm not a member, but I have been on a run with members of the Christchurch branch. They were a great group of people, very friendly and basically just love BMW's as much as we all do... modified or not.

It kind of sounds like I'm talking about them as if they're an alien race or a rival gang.... but that's not the case. :D We actually had a lengthy discussion about this at the last Chch Bimmersport meet and there was talk of setting up a "Rennsport club" whereby members of all the German car clubs in Christchurch could band together for meets to allow a bigger turnout, better venues, cheaper track days etc. I think it's a brilliant idea.

I've been thinking about joining the club for a while now, and as I want to take the E30 out for a bash round the track I guess now is a good time.

I think i will join, i don't have a prob' with the $75. The reason i want to join is the fact that BMW E3 knowledge is pretty thin on the ground in NZ, but by joining i open up a whole new scope of people that could impart knowledge and parts sources.

I should get a commission from BMWCCNZ for spuring all you BS members to join lol.

You will find the Rennsport has already started down there, my old e30 race car is apart of it, its worked well for the guys down there, it just gets all the German race cars out on the track to make up the numbers.

I think people have a veiw of the BMWCC being full of oldies etc but it is far from it, you get all types of members wanting to be part of the club for verious reasons, cheap parts, racing, socialising BMWCC member only events and special deals for tours around Alpina etc, but no matter what they all still have the same passion as everyone else on here! so anyone else want to join!!!

also a member......

a club is a group of people who have an interest in common. You will get out of it what you put into it.As for specific knowledge re cars there will prolly be a lead you can find wether you belong to the club or not...

A car club memebr gets a discount at the dealer for parts(ten percent i think) but present your card BEFORE you make the purchase.Other places also offer discounts, but prolly no more than you could negotiate yourself if you are that way inclined.
