oh yeah windscreen is sweet as, there is one tiny mark on the roof which will probably cut n polish out,

Pretty much can't get much for these cars, which is exactly why i made sure my insurance covered me on the way to a WOF

I imagine I will get a classic car restoration type place to deal to the bonnet

It will probably be quite expensive though it sure as hell wont be getting any bog near it

Could you use the damaged bonnet as a guide to make a fibreglass one instead? / anyone you know that you could borrow their bonnet to make up a mould? could be cheaper in the long run than trying to get yours fixed.

Feel your pain mate. I've had a similar bad run with cars this week. 3x new tyres, some damage to one of my front guards. New tyres were larger, rubbed the guard and the paint cracked - so it's going to need a respray, and since that put the bimmer out of action I took my MR2 to Auckland, and about 2km from home on the way back, the pressure plate in the clutch went and won't disengage. So even though its a job I'd normally do myself I need it going ASAP so I'm paying someone to do it (crazy I know! ). Just what I need - $1,500 on cars the week before xmas.

Good luck with getting the bonnet sorted. Run it street racer style without one???

That’s why you have insurance, depending on your excess.

Just rock around with no bonnet, will look tough as.

Knew there was a reason BMW mounted their bonnets backwards.

Make up a clear or lexan one to show off your hairdryer and mechanical handiworkz! ;)

haha this thread is actually starting to crack me up and make me feel happier about it

so thanks Bimmersport

excess is $900 so its probably not worth ruining my no claims when I have only had insurance for a grand total of 4 days

i have a lead on a brand new bonnet from a Z specialist in Auckland, it could be about $500-$800

in which case I might go for it.

if this doe not work out I will be visiting the panel beaters in the new year.

A guy from my work has made carbon fiber and fiberglass kayaks recently I will be enlisting him to make a mold for me if I wish to have a bonnet reproduced. Or I may infact just simply use the copy and leave the original hanging on the wall

Thanks for the cheer up guys I am feeling much better about it and now able to laugh it off a little bit

Bugger. I've been through similar issues when building my turbo too, didnt have a bonnet fly up but stupid things still went wrong and cost money. That exhaust does look good, not as hard as some people think if your lucky enough to have access to all the gear.

I also know the grief with insurance you have, 20 and turbocharged BMW is just as bad. Got them down to $600 for the 540i which is completely stock so $700 for a modified car is pretty good. Buggers tried to decline when I called up the 2nd time to confirm, just lucky they had the quote saved.

That is so unfortunate James! I had a bonnet nearly come up on me in my ol' Corona, slammed the brakes on once I saw it start shuddering, waiting to catch some air.. Lucky.

Get it tuned already! We must go for a blast across the plains.

Don't your worry Henry I am doing my best to make it run good then we can give it some running in treatment once the valve springs are changed over.

the 300zx is not a happy camper at the moment.

Missing on the rear 2 cylinders on the Left Bank, Good Spark, Good compression, injectors are working properly

I have been through the diagnostic section of the Factory Service Manual checked every dam thing in sight and run ecu codes.

as far as ECU codes I get Neutral Switch and Air Conditioner > these shouldn't matter

ALL the plug leads read under 10K ohms Factory Service Manual specs 30k ohm as a maximum, new plugs & have tried multiple gaps and gone back to factory gap as per Factory Service Manual as none of this is making any difference.

I know I need a new thermostat as is not opening fully but this isn't causing the missing/dropping a cylinder and general running like Arse
