Tsunami warning

Recommended Posts

Huge earthquake in Samoa this morning and civil defence in NZ is warning of a tsunami on the east coast in around an hours time.

Early indications are that it will be 1.5 metres high so hardly catastrophic but a warning none the less.

How far up is your new house Simon ;)

You North Islanders are taking the brunt of it for us... it'll just be a trickle by the time it hits us.

Seriously though... I work in radio and we've been told to get the Civil defence warning siren ready to play. Yikes.

Nothing much is gonna happen. Media hype!

This tsunami could hit a flock of pinguins and it would be f**ked.

Yeeeyah it was 40cm !!!!

Yeah, all I saw at the beach was 3 police cars - putting our tax money to good use like usual.

Siren went off about 8:30 this morning and I got "advised" to move inland to higher ground :) I can see the beach less than 100m away from upstairs and I'd say I'm roughly 1.5m above the high tide line. It seemed prudent.

So I took shelter in a cafe and chucked coffees down my neck until I got bored and full and went home.

What a disappointment
