Need a shallow headunit no-CD

Recommended Posts

Due to space constraints (wont bore you why) i need a headunit that is no more than 3" deep. Anyone have any suggestions? obviously, will loose CD playing ability but im not that bothered about that.

anyone running anything like that and would/wouldnt run it again etc?

or if anyone is in the business and can do a deal let me know as well.

will go to an audio shop today on the way home and look at some options, but experience is better than a sales pitch.

cheers

decent unit for the price, and shallow

or you could try American Hi-fi from The Warehouse, pretty much same as the one above, but not as good IMO

do you have one? do you mind measuring it?

I have exactly 3" depth yes very shallow

3" of SPACE you mean? o.k Andy

HU is 10.5cm in deep, incl. wire harness and radio antenna adapter for it to point out to the side

oh my

ninja edit.

seems like thats unrealistic though. seems my only solution is to remote mount the unit and fit the faceplate into the dash, with a loom. aparently old school printer cabeling is recommended, its a good job i work at a computer recycling company! so yeah will probably guve that a go if i cant find one. been looking for the last half hour or so no luck yet

or spend more and get one with wired remote? i've thought about mounting controls on steering wheel, but that makes the e30 too luxurious :P

Have a look at Fusion marine systems (a few other bands do similar units) Here

Another option is to take the face of a dettachable face head unit, Solder wire on the the connectors and put the cd / tuner unit in the boot.

Sony DSXS100 is fairly shallow, not sure the exact measurements though

Edit: ignore that, did some research and it's too deep

The JayCar one does the job, just fitted one into my flatmates car a couple weeks ago. It's ugly as and looks like something from the 80's minus the tape deck - But works alright.

Looks like it'd suit an old 80s car perfectly.... :D
