Driftit 2078 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 Reminds me of the US Dream Team. Which doesn't work at all.
duvey 245 Report post Posted May 4, 2015 It would be kinda cool if they were looking at actual automotive journalists, instead of the nearest b-list celebrities they could find.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 Edd China and Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers would be a better fit, and keep Hammond.

benpaul12 62 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 ^ Hell yes. I've been watching the older Top Gears on Netflix and it's pretty awesome, plus they're in HD! Would love to see these guys keep going, although perhaps a more limited budget might make the show a little better without so much hollywood and script antics going on? hybrid 1043 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 I think they will be fine ... The problem with established TV is it has every man and its dog on set all getting paid, If youve ever been on a professional filming or TV series braodcast you would be amzazed. In this country we keep it fairly lean too compared to over seas. Imagine carting 40+ people around the world when really all you need is 6 (including the presenters) ... To get great video.Drive managed to do it with only a few small crews. Todays cheap 4k systems are making anyone able to give it a crack.
_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted May 15, 2015 One look at the successes of Blair and Martin of Mighty Car Mods should proove the success of the model, and the (aparently) do everything them selves, including the filming and editing.
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Clarkson speaks to Chris Evans
benpaul12 62 Report post Posted June 17, 2015 Sooooo. The man who interviewed Clarkson above, the white Ferrari lover is the new host of Top Gear. Has anyone seen what the other two are doing? Are they joining him? I don't know too much about Chris Evans but from what I've seen, he's in a similar vein to Clarkson in terms of being outspoken, but perhaps a little more in-touch.
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted June 17, 2015 Evans will do alright. It wont be the same show, but it will still be watchable. Out of all the peoples names thrown about he is one of the better ones that genuinely loves cars. It goes without saying it's not going to fill the void left by a lack of a Clarkson hosted show. M5V8 337 Report post Posted June 17, 2015 Clarkson, May and Hammond are about to sign a multi year, multi millions contract to produce a show for a online provider. It's actually worked out quite well if you think about it. Top Gear lives on. It may or may not be good. We still get the three idiots. win, win.

benpaul12 62 Report post Posted June 17, 2015 I hope it works out like this: Top Gear continues with Star in Reasonably Priced Car and the standard reviews. Clarkson, Hammond, May do the challenges and over the top reviews. Because I will certainly watch both! It's probably going to be like Top Gear vs. (a better) 5th Gear.
Gaz 1061 Report post Posted June 17, 2015 I read somewhere that Chris Evans was/had a meeting with one of the 3 to try to get them back. Don't know how accurate that was but interesting if it was true.

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted June 18, 2015 News of Jodie Kidd as a co host has popped up again... I wonder if that will happen. I think she would do well. Pretty quirk and genuinely likes cars.
gjm 3258 Report post Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) News of Jodie Kidd as a co host has popped up again... I wonder if that will happen. I think she would do well. Pretty quirk and genuinely likes cars. She's a good driver, too. Significantly quicker than any of the (previous) TG team and about 10th fastest ever 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car'. Remember the lap? JC told her she was 0.3s faster than Jay Kay... Pissed Jay Kay off no end - he asked for another go but was turned down. And she drives a Maserati. Which makes her all right in my book. Edited June 18, 2015 by gjm
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted June 18, 2015 Meh. Really don't like Chris Evans. That's the end of Top Gear for me.
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted June 25, 2015 Agreed. But can hardly be worse than big dickhead, little dickhead and foppish dickhead. Can barely remember a time when Top Gear was watchable.
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted June 25, 2015 Really? It is some of the best light entertainment around. You could always go watch come dine with me. Or one of those other great kiwi reality rip off's that flood our TV. For an actual car review you can't go past Chris Harris. He is also entertaining.
benpaul12 62 Report post Posted June 26, 2015 Top Gear is a bit like U2, lots of people like them, lots of people hate them.
gjm 3258 Report post Posted October 1, 2015 Guy Martin has turned down an invitation to host Top Gear. He said that being a truck fitter was his chosen career, and that it would always come first. The comparatively small amount of television work he currently does is hard enough to fit in around his job and bike racing, and that presenting the show would mean changing his life altogether. “Yes, you might earn squillions of pounds, but I earn enough here to keep me in push bikes,” he said. “I don’t want to live like a rock star. I drive a Transit van and a Volvo estate. Although having said that, my Snap-On tool bill is quite high.” Kind of a shame. Sounds like he's a 'real' person and would have been a breath of fresh air, for the first series at least.
