adro 1084 Report post Posted March 18, 2020 (edited) 226XXX km Brake fluid flush and swapped out for some new lines. New hoses can see the old lines starting to crack. used this vacuum bleeder I got off Wish after Glenn was recommending them, seemed to work pretty well. I've since watched an article about how stainless lines on a street car are a complete waste of time ? refilled with this stuff from BNT. lemusa 86 Report post Posted June 12, 2020 Hey Adrian, Good to chat on Thursday. Finally sat down and read through this. You've put a hell of a lot of time and $ into it that's for sure. Here's what I did with the last pieces of mine when it was written off. https://imgur.com/gallery/np7tA Hope it gives you a laugh. TermiPeteNZ 1319 Report post Posted June 13, 2020 I hope this goes to a good home. I'd so buy this if didn't already have both a M62TU V8 BMW and a silver BMW sports sedan ?
adro 1084 Report post Posted June 13, 2020 228,000 had the car into Jon @ Auto38 to see if he could diagnose the shimmy I’m experiencing at 80-100km and upon braking. Everything in the front is tight, worn upper control arm in the rear. He thought it could just be tyres. So today @mossline and I swapped wheels. We also put mine on his for extra validation. No dice. My car still wobbles and his with my wheels doesn’t. Good to be able to rule that out though. so guess I’ll replace the rear arms and take it from there. After seeing @Jacko’s glossy car I bought some soft99 car wax (for light coloured cars) and went about my commiserations waxing the beast. photos of it glossed up to follow tomorrow. side note, the E30 has a lot of play in the drivetrain so it was drop one off pick one up at Auto38 this week ?♂️ 4

You are the last person I can think of that needs this car @TermiPeteNZ ? think I’m probably going to pull the trademe add and keep it for a while so I can find what’s wrong with it. Maybe it will become worse and more obvious....I don’t notice it at my daily speeds of 50-70 so it’s easy to live with in the mean time.
KwS 2429 Report post Posted June 13, 2020 How bad is the shimmy? Not something like a dodgy wheel bearing or the likes?

KwS 2429 Report post Posted June 13, 2020 Not something real dumb like a sticking caliper or pad deposits on the rotors (or warping)?

(not my style. what's this 'slows for corners' anyway?). It's nothing to do with rotors/calipers/pads. Car drives like a dream, with one minor exception. The shimmy is very subtle. Nothing like an internet forum to 100x magnify something! To his credit, @adro is very sensitive to suspension and running. I'm almost scared to give him my e30 for a blat ? You need someone in the car to shake the wheel while on the hoist and check by feel or with a stethoscope
