I've never had any issues with their suspension quality or longevity , the price difference between say Lemforder isnt that big for a lot of it (says to me the quality is good), they are easier to source like you said. Im running their front HD upper arms, HD sway bar links, lower arms and a couple of control arms in the rear with the rest being Lemforder.

All done nearly 70,000km so far with no hints of failure.

Decided to just get Lemforder suspension parts for the front end via fcp euro.

In the mean time got 2 bastard ball joint sleeves removed from the old control and thrust arms. I really need a bench vice as I had to hammer away at the pickle fork on an old chair while securing the arm from moving during the bfh sessions.

Assumed everyone who worked on their car would have a vice haha, my one come off really easy in a vice with a little heat applied. My bfg is reversed for angry management sessions particularly on asian cars.

Replaced the fuel filter while access is easier up on axle stands. The one I found was dated 2006 so bonus point for it’s owner in Japan.

Cobra ‘Lows’ 25-30mm lower than standard non M springs. Then can just drop the rear sls using inpa about 15-20mm.

Front end suspension overhaul all done. Drives alot better and not too crashy with the lowering springs.

I lowered the rear using inpa to tune the air bag heights. Started off reading around 615mm (measured from bottom of rim lip to wheel arch) and ended up at around 585mm. M sport rear suspension with 18” wheels is 589mm stock.

Fitted the staggered M Pars and got a much needed wheel alignment.

Looks alright ? Not so low it drags it's bum exiting the driveway? Love the airbag suspension in these, have had 700kg in the boot before and no nose pointing at the sky, unlike the Legacy before it which was unsafe with the same load

PS you really do need a NZ numberplate holder or surround...

Wheels certainly make the difference. Id measure the front ride height and check it after a few days of driving, mine ended up settling some more making my first alignment at BMW a big money waster.

No holders\surrounds are for weight reduction. Need some M-sport swaybars if anything.

Yeah I was going to get some M sways from a wreck at pickapart but too much hassle for 20% stiffer sway bars. Not really a track car but will get some firmer sway bushes I think.

Probably not if you have to remove them twice but still a good upgrade for any car, not as hard to install as i expected. In my experience ive never felt any difference when using stiffer(street grade poly bushings) as opposed to good condition OEM rubber.

Trick for young players...

Bought a leather drivers seat with the correct dual stage type yellow harness plug. Fitted the seat and all was well until the airbag light came on for this..

8621D684-638F-4646-8547-7D7AAAD499B7.jpeg

Reset the code but it kept coming back. Turns out that the seat buckle sensor from the leather seat has 3 wires vs the original seat having 2. I believe this was a change from when going from MRS3 to MRS4 (airbag module) which was installed in to e39’s from Feb 01’ onwards.

So plan of attack is to fit the entire seat wiring harness and seatbelt stalk/pre-tensioner unit from original seat in to leather seat..

Drivers leather seat wiring and buckle successfully swapped out.

Gave the interior a good clean out. Don’t think it had been cleaned in years, lots of built up skin oils and filth around all the switches/buttons and handles.

Gave it a good clean on the outside too. Years of neglect by the looks with dirt, moss, leaves etc stuck around the corners of the boot door jam and other trims.

Looks like it has black leather sport seats but they would be impossible to remove with how close they sit the cars next to eachother.
