Some dealers also have friendly deals with their local compliance center. I believe NZTA has tightened up on that a bit, but there will still be shady deals getting through.

can't fault your logic.  in my case. the VTNZ was just down the lane from the dealer.

Maserati can go for the right price.  I need to do the clutch first though and I doubt I will see change from 10 grand for that.  :s.

is it the same kind of setup as e60 M5?

Correct (it was inspected by AA on arrival to NZ but that was months earlier) , made the error of assuming dealer would have to sort immediate issues and the mechanical warranty would handle anything down the line, which is true, but didn't factor on the massive pain in the arse it would be.

Lesson learnt!

Yeah it always sucks learning the expensive way! It always pays to have a specialist with the particular to car look at them as they're more familiar with the cars and will generally have a better attention to detail with them, or at least a workshop with a solid reputation where you know they have highly skilled mechanics.

Yep, the Maserati box is better at everything except parking and cost of maintenance.  Just dont reverse up a hill.

To be fair there isnt a lot with an automated clutch that enjoys reversing up a hill. I know my Golf GTI with DSG wasnt a fan.

It takes a lot of patience to Audi.

Can I just quote myself here.

Also let me know when you are selling the 535 @GorGasm.  I will try convince the wife.

Another fun update on this sh*t-show:

Dealer advised (after having the car another 8 days with almost no progress)  that the car is now dumping transmission fluid and the transmission has to come out...

He's asked us to file a claim under our MBI as its a new fault but they will cover the excess, which sounded dodgy to me, so I had a pretty frank and honest discussion with the MBI provider who was happy to raise the claim... So its now going to a transmission shop.

We do have an F10 535i loaner in the meantime, but its huge and a real boat to be honest.

Suffice to say, the Honeymoon period with the Audi was very brief indeed - only positive is we are getting some major service items out of the way 😐

It started dumping transmission fluid whilst sitting there?

And they offered to cover the excess? Seems odd but I suppose if it costs you nothing...

Yeah.... odd indeed.

It was 100% leaking a LOT of oil beforehand ( I had to top up a litre and it was barely driven) so seems very odd this other leaking issue has now popped up out of the blue and that they offered to cover excess.

Positive is its only costing us time and braincells so far...

Perhaps start looking for a replacement whilst you wait for it, it might be cursed! 😢

At this point, I think you should ask to return the car. Honestly seems like they sold you a lemon.

I'm not generally one to give up on  a car over a couple issues as I know that's just life, but I find it hard to imagine they didn't notice serious issues with this one before selling it.

Will raise that again pending this diagnosis, but it really depends how hard would have to fight to return it - not keen to drag it through small claims court I mean...

Maybe start with posing a question and see what their attitude is. Ask if they are confident they can resolve all issues or if they would rather take the car back to settle the matter more easily?

You have the patience Audi looks for in its customers.

That's *very* dodgy.   I'd be rejecting the car if there remains any option to, but you may be happy to ride it out.  I hope you get a satisfactory outcome.

Is the transmission issue related to the accident?

No - accident was simply lower bumper catching on curb while parking at 0.5 kmph.

Trans leak is some apparently common gasket around mechatronic? Anyway, its being sorted but yeah... what a great start.

Nice, hopefully the last time you need to deal with that dealer haha.

Next time I’m just going to sic the wife on him, she’s far less diplomatic than me 🤣
