m325i 709 Report post Posted June 16, 2022 OT but Trade me does have a lot of safeguards. Other countries only have FB Marketplace (or ebay if they are lucky) which is basically a back alley. And that has given rise to the premium auction sites like Bring-a-trailer. Trademe is actually a pretty sweet in-between that does have legal recourse (especially for large value items) and doesn't have buyer premiums that specialist sites would demand. The whole "tardeme" argrument is like Sky Tv - everyone was crying about a SkyTv monopoly. But look atcha now.... Sky for Rugby/Cricket, Netflix for Ozark, Disney for Star Wars, Spark Sport for F1, Amazon for The Boys and your in well over $200. Careful what you wish for.... KwS 2425 Report post Posted June 16, 2022 Trademe doesn't do sh*t if you get ripped off. They used to, but not anymore. It's no more secure than marketplace really.

OT. ebay should not be used in the same sentence as TM or FB. ebay has full protection. It's just a shame sellers won't use in in NZ and shipping is too dear (usually, but not always) to buy from USA or UK. I once unknowingly bought counterfeit (knockoff) tennis racquets on ebay. When I realized it, I got a full refund including shipping.

I worked at Sky at the time everyone was bitching and moaning about their monopoly, we knew exactly what would happen with market fragmentation, the total cost to the consumer goes up. FWIW you no longer need Spark Sport in NZ for F1, F1TV Pro is available here for NZ$100 a season and it's better than the Spark option (multiple cameras, commentary choice, data feeds etc). For some bizarre reason the Android/Google TV app isn't available here so you need to either cast from mobile or sideload the TV app (which is what I've done).

True, although I can't believe Sky Neon is still only HD and stereo sound - my new OLED and 5.1 deserves more 🤣

M3AN 4016 Report post Posted June 17, 2022 That's ^ true, and I'm a pirate (ironically considering I worked for a DRM company in Europe), but it doesn't work well for live sport and for F1, which I don't watch live because of the timing, a hundred bucks is much easier than pirating the content. I also pay for Disney+ because it's awesome and not particularly expensive.

Regardless, 100 bucks a season is better than 25 bucks a month, there's very little else on Spark Sport that I'm interested in.
