Anyone look at costco tyre pricing

Recommended Posts

Wonder if they will shake up the tyre market in NZ?

I’ll drag this up.
Got two 275/40/20 Michelin PS4s for $464 fitted and balanced.
About $160 cheaper per tyre, only stock Bridgestone, Michelin and BF Goodrich.

Michelin was my choice anyway, had them before and very happy.

Does Costco NZ sell Quickjacks?

I’ll have a look next time, but it’s so massive, who knows?

If it's not that brand, they definitely have something very similar. Saw it there the other day

Do they publish the prices online?

You can call and they’ll give you them over the phone, have to go in to actually pay (and show your card).

Yes they do , usually have to make a booking/appointment . Has its own separate entrance on right hand side of building

Sure do, got mine today. Hand torqued, even cleaned the wheels because they were covered in mud.

Costco NZ tips/observations from a grumpy mid 30s fella:

- If you're going to order food, do it before you start your shopping.
- You also don't need a card to order food, so if you want to sample the 'Costco experience', go in and order a hotdog with the masses.
- Your Costco US card is accepted, no need to re sign up.
- The Aus sourced red meat doesn't hold a flame to NZ red meat, though they do have some larger cuts more readily available than your local butcher or supermarket might. Good for a big barbie or cook up.
- Most grocery items are comparable in cost to a Pak'n'Save special, or Tai Ping regular price.
-  Fuel's comparable to NPD or Waitomo, can't beat Riverhead Caltex.
- Vitamins/supplements are cheaper at Chemist Warehouse, which shouldn't be an issue shopping at if you're considering Costco.
- Returns are a breeze. Mrs got caught up in the consumerism and did a decent clothing shop, got home and realised some were cheaper online or from local NZ stores and others she didn't actually want - just got caught up in the consumer-spend mentality Costco market so well, and returned with no questions asked.

Best use of our card to date is boxes of Stroopwafels (you're welcome if you haven't tried these before).

Dear Santa

I've been a good boy this year and I'd really like a Quickjack for Christmas...

I did some measurements on the E61 and the distance between the jackpads is too much for a 5000TL I think  :(  The 5000TL has a maximum lift point spread of 152cm but I measured the E61 at 163 CM from the forward point of the front jackpad to the rear point of the rear jackpad. I might put a caveat that Spinner Jr was at the other end complaining he couldn't find the jackpad so maybe the measurements are off so I might just double check them just in case.

Anyway - the 5000TLX looks like the model I really want for reaching the jackpads plus lift height, but it doesn't look like Costco sell that one :(    The other option is to get the extensions for the 5000TL which would make it the same length as the 5000TLX, but the extensions are $427 USD on quickjacks US site, I'm not sure we can get them here either?  And even if we can  they make the base unit on the ground taller and ground clearance may become an issue. I think it comes up to 76mm 90mm ish.

That's really good, I paid 750ish per tyre for 285/30/19 Mechelin PSS earlier in April. Should have gave them a call to do a price check.
