Update. Have found a Genuine ACS front lip for it, will be taking it in to the plastic welders next week to be repaired, and then it will be off to the paint shop to be painted, along with the bonnet and front bumper. Have fitted a Msport three spoke steering wheel with volume controls etc, and have accumulated most parts and tools i need to do the vanos and cooling system. Fixed a rattle in the front brake disc shield and a rattle in one of the rear calipers. My Monitor has gone south again, so will have to pull the headunit and open it up again and see what i can do for a more permanent fix. I also intend to add an Aux in port via the redundant tape deck when i'm in there. Getting sick of newstalk ZB. Unlikely to get anything mechanical done till some time in march, but can look at doing a DIY if anyone is keen. Though i'm not so good at taking pics. Can try though!

Damn. I LOVE a well sorted e28, and this would be tits on the right wheels and coilovers. Colour is perfect! Style 5's FTW.

Drop it on some coilovers and buy those staggered 18inch Style 5's = perfect

Sounds like the default BMW servicing interval - my 320D reckons I should do 12-14k miles between services, so that's about 20000km. You don't have to obey the service intervals. I change oil and filter at least every 5k miles, normally more often. 'Normal' petrol engined cars I change the oil every 6-7.5k miles, or more often. (These are upper limits, set by me for our cars.) Oil needs changing more often if the car spends a lot of time sitting in traffic.

They do huge k's without issues as long as serviced properly like your's appears to have been. Same goes for any M20 and M30's really, simple ,non stressed and durable motors which were truely built to last.

Had to laugh at "I don't mean to scare you guys, but she has just shy of 360,000kms" etc Honestly thats nothing, if its was 500,000+ i may of blinked

Haha yes they sure are but after owning an airbagged bmw I seriously would love to get this thing laying frame on some 18x9 rotas. May not be your guys cup of tea but these rims in a way are appealing.

I'd feel like a fraud if it looks like a pretend M5. If you fancy cutting up the wheel well and giving me one of your exhaust set ups I'd consider it though!! haha

Lob the 8 off and you can have a very classy coffin which is remarkably more roomy and possibly faster in the corners Sent from my GT-I8160L using Tapatalk 2

look dont get me wrong and, for the right price, i would own one in a heart beat, but why the hell would you pay $18k for one??? lop the 1 off the front and i can have a super tidy well specced E30?????

I have one of these in my E30 and keeps it nice and cool, good quality nice welds, hasn't given me any issues.

Im running a fenix radiator on my E30. Its a daily but I do get very heavy on the pedal for a reasonable time and it hasnt crapped out yet. Doesn't over heat etc, no leaks or anything.

LSD - yes, but don't have the cash at the moment unless I can make a E32 diff fit or something like that, so will probably drive it with the open diff for a while until I can afford the conversion. The guy I bought the sc from said he drove his for a year with open diff and it was fine - just felt a bit sketchy on the track. Have to fit drive shaft safety loops for a cert which I now have but haven't found the time or the mustard to pull out the interior and try and fit the f*cking things.

Few bits and pieces to sort out before the SC can go in, Suresh, but will keep this updated. Hoping it'll be done by the end of March.

Had a day off so did some cosmetic stuff. Repainted the bumper and door trim (thanks to Martin for the 'Forever Black') and did one of the cheapest but most effective interior upgrades so far. Picked up an old beige sliding arm rest with flip lid and coin tray (mine came with the sliding arm rest and coin tray where the phone would go but no flip lid). I'd previously bought a leather arm rest cover from Top Gaiters along with my brake boot and gear stick gaiter. Nice and cheap, think it worked out around $50 for the lot - black with dark red stitch to match the trim. Removed the arm rest pad from the sliding mechanism and coated with urethane glue. I then dampened the suede side of the new leather with a wet cloth and stretched it over the glued surface. Once I'd stretched it as tight as I could I taped it up with painter's tape to hold it for 3-4 hours while the urethane hardened. Took all the tape off and reassembled on the sliding mechanism (the back plate and handle help hold the leather in place around the edges). It looks a little wrinkled still but as it dries out it should tighten up before the glue fully cures. Installed in the car... Pretty happy with it for $50 in leather and $30 in paint for the trim!

Yea, I dunno - I've started to look at the E28's in a whole new light the last coupla months, & I think in some ways for me personally, I'm now at the stage where I'd prefer one over a E30............
