2 pointsHad E46 M3, now in E92 M3. Love both. As wonderful as the E46 is, it's more of a "raw" car. The E92 is far more refined, comfortable, and much nicer to daily drive (I daily drove both). The fuel economy isn't much worse if that's a concern however if you're worried about petrol I'd go for the mighty Corolla. The sound of the E46 is quite nice, some people love the rasp. It was alright but you just can't top the V8 at 8300 RPM. Especially with some of the exhausts on the market (or modding OEM). The E92 has a much nicer, more modern, and spacious interior. The E46 is definitely the purists car (IMO) though. A lot of people have E92 M3s, even "non-car" people. Whereas the E46 M3 is typically bought because the owner "knows what it is". All statements above are opinions. Any specific questions feel free to ask

1 pointAfter many months of patiently waiting for a 6-spd manual low km 135i to pop up for sale I finally got my hands on one a couple of weeks ago! I was looking for a car that was 6-spd, sunroof, less than 75k and NOT BLACK and came across this - my sedona red 135i. Ideally would've preferred a 2009 but can't be too picky! So far I have ordered some 18" VMR 710's rims with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres from the US as the run flats need replacing and may as well may it look good at the same time! Won't arrive for another 6-8wks though due to LA port congestion. Thought about ordering some performance parts too (intake, exhaust, downpipes, charge pipe, intercooler, cobb V3) to add on to the shipment but thought better and will just take my time before jumping into mods If anyone knows where I can get the idrive changed to NZ (maps and radio) that would help a lot!

1 pointHi guys and gals, Firstly I know this is a BMW forum however couldn't resist putting up a couple of pics of my SL! So I purchased this car from a guy in KeriKeri who had about 50 Mercs and beemers, the reason It stood out was that it only has 60,000km! I also have a walkaround video of the car - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaNWUj2F2s8

1 pointHi Guys, I have been a BMW fan for years, so thought I should join this site and see what it's all about. Current cars are an Imported (Japan) 335i E91 wagon, and NZ New E46 M3 SMG. Have owned an NZ New 328i M Manual coupé previous to these cars, brought it at 170km and took it to 344km over 6 years, was easily the best car I've ever owned over a long period of time. The E91 is for sale, turns out I can live with the M3 as a daily driver just fine..... Cheers, Dan

1 pointKeep in Mind that is just the reserve, prob sell for 10k or so

1 pointOk, so I went from the E46 M3 to the E90 M3, i liked the look of the sedan over the coupe, also the sedan is a more rigid body. I do miss the rawness of the E46 M3, I loved the rasp. I now love the sound of the V8. The V8 does enjoy drinking fuel more than the E46 M3. With the age of the E46 getting on a bit, plastic components are getting tired, all the bushes will need to be replaced, shocks will need to be replaced, window rubbers will be getting hard. I did all of the above with my E46. If you can get a late '08 onwards you will have CIC iDrive (HDD based) and a lot quicker than the CCC system.

1 pointNice! I've always been a sucker for the older SL's along with all other Mercs.. I do need to get myself in one again. I remember being 15 learning to drive in a S420, was like driving a tank, loved it. Not as much as the CL65 I had in the states a year or two back. Huge 2 door Mercs are the best haha
-
1 pointHaha I remember this E30. It used to be Emma's car who used to be a member here...

1 pointAgreed. None of us would last long in our own jobs if we chinned a colleague so why should someone get special dispensation because they're on a popular TV show. Also agree with those that have said Top Gear is past it's prime. Perhaps this is for the best and the show (or its equivalent) will get a real shake up with a new format and new presenters... It's about time.

1 pointNext up I gave it a valve adjustment and managed to drop the drill bit I was using to rotate the eccentrics down Into the sump. There is no way my nerves would of been ok with leaving it there. I also had a spare sump gasket + fresh oil + filter waiting to go in the car. I was dreading the sump gasket job but it was honestly easier than I thought it would be. Loosened the motor mounts + gearbox mounts, jacked motor up using the AC bracket, unbolted + lowered the pan then unbolted the oil pump to pull the pan out. Checked the oil pump strainer while I was in there but it was mostly clean.

1 pointYou wouldn't be paying the excess if it wasn't your fault. With comprehensive, your insurer chases the other party for the full amount including excess

1 pointE30 F30 and E90(Motorsport or M3 only) are my votes. E36 and E46 are Europes Corolla. Just too many of them around. Good runarounds though.

1 pointE30. Its the best. It just is. Not just for what it is, but what it was when new.. and that is how I judge cars. E46 second for me, the E46 was the last model that held up to being more premium than the competition, it was also the end of an era where cars were allowed to have a thirsty inefficient engine, heavy controls, less safety dictating styling, less practicality dictating styling, etc... IMHO anything newer is just a overpriced Hyundai *.. *with the exception of proper M cars, they will always be a bit special, but this is a platform ranking.

1 pointI had a claim with AA for a car on agree value, and they paid out, no questions asked, full agreed value. The amount you agree has an affect on the size of your premium, so they shouldn't be querying it at this stage. The only thing you might have to argue over is any excess on the policy, which AFAIK your insurer, the AA, should claim from the other person's insurance if they are at fault as it sounds. Stick to your guns, don't let them fob you off.

1 pointHahahaha ^ It would be awesome, but 95% of people wouldn't have a clue what he is saying, especially when he gets too enthusiastic.
-
1 pointActually, and in all seriousness, a good replacement for Jeremy Clarkson could be... Drum roll... Guy Martin?
-
1 point$1500 for all four? Sounds to good to be true. Usually around $1500 for a pair of 18s.

1 pointThe hard shift down to 1st seems to be a common fault in the E60's. On occasion ours does it after sitting in creeping traffic. Is apparently a sign of the car spending most of its life in traffic. Common for a lot of Jap cars. We have an E60 530D and my father has a W211 E55 AMG. And unless you have the suspension set to Sport 2 I find the Merc wallows a little too. But the E60 feels a lot cheaper than the E55. Must be material quality. The AMG seats are also much much better than the E60 sport seats.

1 pointJames didn't say that. He said it would take a lot of thinking. But that they only worked with the three of them. So many rumors of other networks throwing money at them now. And the police want to get involved over a small biffo... PC bullshit. If someone hit me at work I would hit them back. Then settle it over a beer.
-
1 pointIt will be missed. Very few shows I enjoy these days. The more car shows the better. 5th Gear is a bit dry most of the time. But I would still rather watch that before bed than anything on TV1/2/3/4/% The only replacement I would accept would be Chris Harris. Because he is just as much of an arrogant opinionated wanker as Clarkson. But they are suggesting Chris Evans. The twat from Radio 2. But he just won't fit in.

1 point380,000ks on the e30 ... everythings has been replaced mind you. In other news, replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses again on the 540i ... gotta love that design. Qaulity. These ones lasted 70,000ks

1 pointWord. My mates gf tries to talk to me and him about cars (she knows FA) and spear fishing (knows even less),amd my mate hates it more than I do. It would be like me talking to her about make up and other boring crap. If she genuinely knew things about cars it would be cool I guess. One time I had an argument with my gf that she wasted too much time watching make up videos on line and that it would be a piece of piss to do, her rebuttal was that I spent too much time on the net reading car articles and watching poker strategy videos. So I did her makeup and she came and lost $100 at the next poker event. I think comparitively, I did way better than her. It's like, its nice and all that you're making an effort but sometimes you just need to go upstairs and make me a sang-which.

1 pointJapanese 90s review. Classic! The Hammer is a bit quiet outside, but that interior sound at 1:24... NICE!

1 pointIf it was just about the cars you and your Soarer would be elsewhere, right?!

1 pointFinishing up the inner tail lights delete. Hoping to have the tailgate finished tomorrow with the reverse camera and the new locking system. Plan on using 2 central locking locks triggered by a momentary switch to unlock the tailgate. The switch will be fabricated to the rear BMW badge. Currently working out the electrics but should have it installed tomorrow

1 pointOrdered these (subject to fitting the car). They are F'n expensive, but when you consider that the critical thing between you and injury (or worse) is the seat, it doesn't pay to cut corners. Was originally gonna get the trusty 4009HR, but talked myself into the new 4119 which has the new three point mount system and also a rear seat vent. When on targa you get very hot and very tired; anything you can do to keep fresh will help your concentration, get better results and help you stay safe. Surprisingly i take the tall seat even know i'm 5, 11". I could have taken the std + smaller seat cousin, but didn't want to run into comfort issues when sitting in the car all day. see:
