Had to take back pillars to metal! Paint flared up on some weird solvent under there some where a repair job before I purchased the car. Have no idea what it was. If I were to do this again in the future i think all panels to bare metal would have saved some serious time in the long run. But goodbye Sunday!

3...Sport . Picked this up on Trademe a couple of weeks back sight unseen, and flew down to Tauranga on the weekend to pick it up. 2003 E46 325i MSport Individual - NZ New, 161km, auto, facelift, leather. Has a near full Coombes Johnston BMW service history from new. Ticked the boxes for what I was after for a daily driver. Given the overall condition of the car there are no plans other than replacing a few little cosmetic items (faded emblems, wiper blades etc), and a paint correction/protection in due course. Got stuck in yesterday tidying it up inside and out and she came up okay!

Hmm, DCT...i like your style...maybe next time. I've done a few things on the coding front, including flashing the old box with the Alpina firmware. But this one sounds like it's bit more involved than that and there's very little info out there. I did reset the adaptions yesterday with INPA but that didn't help. Anyways, today I dropped the oil pan, removed the mechatronic, swapped in the TCU from the old box and put it all back together. Still need to torque up the bolts, reinstall a couple of brackets, put the oil back in and go for a spin. But at this stage INPA is telling me the original error has gone and the exclamation mark has gone from idrive. Moment of truth tomorrow hopefully :-)

Great work! With all the effort you have made, why not just spray the whole car?

Nice job, how long did you wait between clear coats? I always end up with a rough finish and need to do a lot of rubbing/cutting when I do touch ups

That's so funny, a few days ago I was thinking how good an E38 with an S62 might be, but wasn't sure if it would suit auto or manual more.

Just coz you might have been interested, even though Sedan (and it's way too late now anyway!): I put Dads E30 up for sale nearly 2 years ago. It went on Trademe for $8500 no reserve, and $9300 buy now (IIRC) - first caller was a complete muppet - thought it should be cheaper because he may have to spend money on such an old car! Second caller was a "suitable" owner -, older professional gent, collects cars, offered $8K right now, sight unseen, no questions - us in Whangarei, him in CHCH. Money went in that night, collected a month later. So certainly they are out there, but don't come up often. I think Dads would have been what you're looking for (if you want to keep it reasonably "grandpa spec"), and you may find just a touch more cash get's something really good, over something a bit average. None of them are very mint anymore, but there are some real stunners out there - I think they're going to appreciate more and more. A lot of E30's are just old shitters now - still OK cars, fun to drive etc, but the real original stunners are going to be the ones going up in value as real classics. Good luck with the search anyway!

Neither will truly ruin us but one will increase debt by another $11B over the next 5 years and tax the hell out of everything.

Election talk. Everyone suddenly has an opinion and I'm f**king sick of hearing them. Can't wait for it to just be over with. Neither party will truly ruin us. The world will not end on the 24th.

The Labour Party. Having nine years to get their policies together and 8 days from the election they still don't know what they are.
