So just another small update, doesn't look much but spent a few hours on my back putting it in. Now i can officially say it has three pedals Best part was i didn't have to take the steering colum off which i read online that i was going to have to do. master cylinder and clutch lines all put in and ready to go.

I'd do more than 455km in one day with a car like that if I felt like wasting that type of money for a bit of fun

Not even run-in yet, hasn't had it's first M service to have the running in oils swapped out!! I'm with you Glenn, I would have been driving it 24/7 to get it serviced and then give it the full noise.

First statement - wrong. Second statement - both wrong. Third - it's not exactly exciting, really. Sorry Graham, no exciting story, no locked boots full of dead hookers with this one. Just one of those situations where it's not 100% clear what can be disclosed on-line, so it's better to err on the side of caution on my part. It's nothing that affects either the market value of the vehicles, nor the condition / maintenance of the vehicles. So nothing that a potential buyer should be concerned about if you are thinking of bidding on any or all of them. Unfortunately my piggy bank (and the wife's and the kids') don't have that many $$$s in them even when put together so they will be well out of my reach. I will probably be watching the auctions on line just to see how much they do go for, purely out of interest.

pulled the roof lining out of the M5, removed the corroded roof rail and installed good 2nd hand replacement, wasn't as much of a pain as i thought it might be, now i just have to track down and fix the leak/s and sort the tailgate wiring, then put it all back together!!

Talk to Paul at Milland.co.nz He got my BMW key from Germany for my E39 for more than $100 cheaper than an NZ dealer at the time (probably 5 or 6 years ago). Plus He generally knows what I'm talking about - The dealers usually try to sell me the wrong part when I have phoned them - one was the new drivers door lock insert: Dealer kept saying they had to order it colour coded, and I kept explaining it had no paint on it... Paul just ordered it, and it was correct!

It's probably uneconomic to repair. Have any professionals looked at it for you ? What are your mechanical skills like ? Ooops....just looked a photos. That's a write off. I would bail out of that now and cut your loses

had a good run out of our X5 4.4i 2001 model , done about 230ks , trans was rebuilt by previous owners about 10-15k's ago yea just watch out cam chain guide repairs also trans , other than that not too bad late v8's have the N62 engine , they have a lot more issues but use less fuel , 3l petrol too under powered really diesel 3l turbo probably a good option but the petrol v8's are cheaper to buy , just get one from a family or company that's owned it for years as they probably have spend the money on maintaining it rather than the quick flick it before it breaks guy
