@treone haha i was seriously contemplating this, did a bit of online research and some guy in Russia has custom made a trafer case to fit a 420g box to keep it AWD, i thought about as it and wouldnt be too hard to make RWD but feel the X5 are big and heavy with the AWD helps it out a lot. @qube I sure have, i really need to just focus on one project though, this is getting a bit crazy, I dont have enough space. @BM WORLD Yes your correct i would need a bigger spline clutch disc, would look at getting the 240mm m5 ones that come out behind the s62 or aftermarket one from speedfactor. if you got more picture yeah send them my way Also another small update, so spent today during my breaks sorting the window issue and it was just the window had popped off the bolt that holds it in so wasn't getting pushed up. Thats all fixed now and i took it for a good spin and can't find anything wrong with the gearbox, which i was told would go into limp mode on downshifts. So yeah pretty much have a mint running X5 4.4 that ill be getting a wof tomorrow. It has a better head unit in it with reverse camera, so ill just pass this one on to the parents and just need to strip the one car AND look what Austin just sent me a picture of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy

Not a BMW Aparently this was this guys first vehicle restoration, a really interesting watch, actually gets pretty entertaining as the parts go on not to mention the throw back sound tracks in it Reminds me of the good old days with e30's, angle grinders, blow torches, welding sockets onto seized bolts etc

Given the circumstances, and the fact it’s free stuff from an all round genuine Bimmersporter, pics are not required for this post. Thanks, Admin.

I'm pretty sure it will work, just make sure you get the shifter linkages and tailshaft. Someone may correct me if I'm wrong but think they will bolt straight in.

Are the solenoids exactly the same? Just one goes in exhaust and the other in inlet?

Had same codes on two different N52 3.0’s. Replaced vanos solenoids on both engines, problem gone. Easy DIY note - inter web searches will suggest cleaning them. That never worked in both cases so replacement was the road I took.

haha good score on the old 544i , typical ex UK car rust that flywheel is really only suitable for a 5spd box , small clutch is really only like a 330i 328i 3l m3 240mm type , clutch spline wont suit the 420g larger spline . but maybe you could get a stronger clutch set up to fit from maybe a e46 m3 or e36 3.2l m3 etc?? yea those x5 4.6is are so much better than the 4.4i i have both and the 4.6is is way faster and sounds amazing ps got plenty of pics of that red 530i if you need

As part of me clearing out my fleet - due to my illness - we have now decided to sell our 540i. I've updated the ad - as we will now hang on to the Touring - and I've lowered the price on the Motorsport - as I really need the car gone. I've included the chassis number - so you can confirm vehicle spec yourself. 2002 540iSE (is how its registered - but has the full Motorsport specification) - Silver - black leather Chassis: WBADN62080GF13460 175K NZ New - spec'ed with TV, electric rear blind, fold down rear seats and ski bag. I've got a factory first aid kit (unfitted) for the car. We have only owned the car a short time - and this was going to be a "keeper" due to the great spec and performance. Spent $1000s - getting rid of engine oil leaks, sorting out the broken and missing parts (like the outer underbody trays), getting a second key The bad: Power Steering oil leak - looks to be the reservoir - but could be hoses leeching - havent had time to investigate Usual dings and dents for a car this age - but presents well Usual pixels in main dash issues CD Stacker not functional Intermittent PDC failure - but self clears I'd like $4000 for this car -but open to offers as I need to sell the car. The car is in Wellington PM message or call me on 0272010807 if you are interested in buying the car Cheers Darryl

Carbon ceramic brakes - "will last lifetime of vehicle". Get them to guarantee that in writing because it's the most stupid street car option imaginable when replacement costs are north of $8k. And I bet they're about as "lifetime" as BMW fluids.

Best of luck with the sales. And all the best for the health issues.
