1 pointIf you are going to the trouble of helicoils or timeserts why not just go to a 12mm stud instead? Then you can run a coarse thread like the alloy wants and go to a decent depth. Helicoil vs timesert is a heck of an argument. One issue I take with timeserts is the ridiculous stress risers everywhere being a cut thread. The second issue is the relatively low area involved in both of them. It's not much extra effort to run a 12mm stud

1 pointI should have one, will check on Sunday when I'm home and update with condition etc. if you don't find anything sooner. Freight to Wellington should only be $5 or so, I'll work out a price as well and we can go from there. Are you after the tail light, boot lid section or both?

1 pointPointers to such a tool? (not that I've spent any time searching) I'm thinking of doing all of my cam cover bolts in the aluminium. With a suitable guide for a hand drill it's an easy enough job at home. I've already done 2 of the 14 (?) out of necessity.
