Hi all, Currently shopping for an SUV for family (baby + 2 dogs) my original choice (sensible choice) was a 2015 Highlander but I keep coming back the two 2010-2012 X5 M on trademe. I don't mind DIYing on vehicles but are these completely unreliable and expensive parts wise? lots of horror stories on the internet around the N63 which I'm lead to believe is quite different than the s63. Thoughts and views? Cheers

Made a start on the rust on the 325i today, we’ll call her Goldie for now. Pretty solid behind the bumper. Not so much beneath the battery. One patch. Two patches. This one is the niggliest. Nothing too horrific though, and everywhere else looks solid.

If that’s the reason why, I’m happy to chuck in an ad for you now 😂

However a car of that calibre @E28E30@E28E30 I'd put on TradeMe on a longer auction, with an advertisement on the e30/bmw Facebook pages. Looks amazing!

A very original and clean, manual FL 316i coupe just sold for $13,500. And two PFL 318i manual coupes just sold for $15,000 each to the same buyer. Extraordinary times indeed.

Hi everyone, I've just imported an M340d touring from the UK and want to install NZ maps. Is anyone familiar with this process on the latest generation cars? I know the dealer can do it but prefer to find a more cost effective option and learn from any local experience. Cheers, Alex

Agreed with @Cammsport, but you’re not going to sell it anyway so no worries @E28E30 😉

Ask Gordon Murray his opinion. 22kg would bring him out in a sweat, and be enough of an issue to change suppliers 😁

Yea I sold my E36 through Facebook. Trademe would be better if it had some form of messaging app and the fees weren't so expensive. Good to see they're getting some competition.

Been a while! Some more small work done, recently changed diff oil and also discovered a leak around valve cover gasket - replaced the gasket, but since it was my first time after quite a while doing surgical stuff around the engine bay (my last engine I opened was converting a 50cc scooter to 70cc in high school :D) the leak is still there - I guess I should clean the damn thing properly before putting it back together, silly me! What's the best way to clean VANOS? as you can see it's quite dirty: The rear rotors & pads have also been sitting at home for a couple of weeks, so that's next thing that's getting done. And I finally fitted new tyres at the rear. Then off to changing belts and pulleys which are still sitting in the cart on FCPEuro website :D I am also experiencing a quiet whine when accelerating from say 20-30km/h coming from the rear, it then comes back when cruising 50km/h with small throttle applied. After changing diff oil it got a bit quieter, but still there. What should be the first thing to consider here? Since it only does it when there's torque present. It's about time I post one photo of the car from last summer, maybe someone recognizes it: Hopefully next month we move to a new place with a garage or carport, so I can finally work on the thing at home and not at the workplace warehouse on weekends :D Plus I'm getting a company vehicle as a daily driver, so this one can stay put for a while!

From a local TM listing : I like the rims, quite a clean look for a 525i.

This has been up for sometime now but no threads yet - 1982 E21 320i looks nicely restored and pending eventual sale price, on the market at $15,999 looking like great value for money. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/320i/listing/3243052618?bof=d6IsAtLi Just popped up - 1972 1602, partially restored albeit not to factory (not so sure on the raspberry paint) which likely impacts value - must say I actually like the interior - quite the vibe! https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3293563670?bof=nFirlg1q Can you dig it maaaaaan?
