Hi there This is my e30 project bought as a rolling shell in 2020 Fitted Nissan engine, EFR turbo, forged fj20made engine loom, link ecu, made exhaust manifold, engine mounts, sump, fitted big fuel pump put brake booster assembly in the cabin, driveshaft hoops , 3 inch exhaust ,mishimoto radiator and inter cooler, lsd with e36 rear hat, widened steelies, panel and paint, and finally ready for the dyno and hunting for interior parts to finish off. Most of the e30s I’ve ever worked on have been race cars so we would bin the interiors so it’s ironic that is now the stuff I need to find Hope to post car on the Dyno if all goes ok. Cheers Mike Getting close……

Yeah that sucks. Since you rebuilding it anyway the B25 head sounds like the best option. As you say the market for a stuffed B25 is basically no one so its scrap anyway. Even good B25's aren't really wanted as far as i know, just the B28 & B30 for the swaps.

That's a real bummer man. B25 and B30 use same valve sizes, I believe B22 has smaller valves. 90 would likely be Brinell or Vickers hardness test numbers Alternatively if you can't find a complete motor, an M52 or M52Tu stroker build could be the go.

Will definitely ride better and be more grippy. Could get new wheels, with a square set up, to reduce under steer if you're on the stock staggered wheels. Selling the old tyres and wheels could help subsidise that. Changing to normal tyres won't fix any body roll issues you're having, thicker sway bars will do that.

If these new BMWs are reliable I'm calling that unfair on the classic BMW owners like us.

Got the cert check done A couple of silly things,my fault The only one that may give me trouble is the brake relocation bracket Hopefully not to bad as rocker geometry is standard and it’s 3 mm one piece pressed mount bracket I got a wolf check done and apart from the conversion stuff all I need to do is reverse lights Happy days!!

As I am a geek, I did some dragy runs and virtual dynos with my 2008 135i when I purchased it. Firstly with stock ECU Map it ran 13.4 1/4 mile. With Stage 1 it ran 12.93 1/4 mile. With Stage 1+ it ran 12.75 1/4 mile. So this gives you an idea of the difference Stock to stage 1 and stage 1+ makes on these cars. I didn't run stage 2 OTS tunes to test, as I went full send and upgraded turbos etc. But to get an idea of some serious power, here is stock vs 17T turbos with inlets etc. Quarter mile not tested officially, its too fast to test without a drag day, but its a lot faster than my 11 second 335i.

It’s a lot of fun to drive Im always making excuses to go for a quick test drive……… Standard FJ box at the moment but I have a 5 speed ZF that really needs to go in soon I am looking at some adapters from pmc Motorsport and also considering making one , Its more like the kiwi way! Anything FJ is thin on the ground these days It seems like some e30 bits are getting that way too Off for a cert check tomorrow, See what sort of list I get👍

Like make a new one? I have a mate who reckons he can weld it so will try that first and hope it lasts.

It went good on the dyno!, So nerve wracking with a new build hoping everything will go smoothly One issue that bit me was a cheap tm fuel pressure reg……..should know better It made 348 hp atw at 14psi Super happy with the result , Now onto the cert process

Exciting morning for me yesterday - new wheels and tyres went on finally. Maxilite Alpina wheels in 16x7 ET28 and 16x8 ET28 with Yokohama AD08R's in 205/50 and 225/45. Absolutely stoked - wheels look fantastic and fitment is great, probably pushing it about as far as practical without rubbing / rolling. I am probably going to raise it 5-10mm all-round over Easter - it looks great but is a wee bit impractical at this height. The tyres look super aggressive as well and the car is feeling significantly more planted and turns much sharper without an obvious NVH impact (the 205/55/15's were old RE002's). Car has not been aligned but tracks much straighter, will be aligning once new control arms, CAB's and tie-rods go in soon - should be handling far better than I could ever exploit by then. Obligatory photoshoot.
