Had them fitted yesterday. - mechanic showed me photos of the existing setup saying it looked like a 5 year old had assembled... Springs weren't seated correctly and able to be spun. Scary! Haven't driven the car much yet but ride home was lacking the usual boat creak when steering and the wheel was more centered. No longer pulling to the right either. Next step is new tyres - or new(used) wheels and tyres.

I forgot to list these here. If you are interested I can do them for $250 + shipping for Bimmersporters. These are no longer available from Bosch. Only for those looking for OEM parts really. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/exterior/listing/4075672008?bof=qxR3zBye

Ok I have an update for everyone: It's been a busy few days but the car has largely been stripped. It was given an exhuast-less send-off, sounded pretty awesome! I'll put a video on YouTube for you all to have a look at sometime later today. Interior came out first, then followed by engine and gearbox, then driveshaft & diff, and now its just the odds and ends! Fun fact and for future reference: definitely don't just worry about the axles "later" if they're being stubborn to remove. It is in fact very challenging to get the engine out if they're still there - but you live and you learn I suppose. Had to cut the downpipes off and also have to disconnect thrust arms and upper control arms on each side to give just that bit more room. Would like to give a special mention to VW for using M12 Spline bits to hold the fly wheel on - the first 7 came off with much persuasion from the breaker bar. But it would have been nice to give more than 5mm of spline bit set into the bolt, because the last 3 all stripped, YAY! Had to get my mate to weld some hex nuts onto the stripped bolts and then big impact gun did the rest. W8 engine down to the block does look rather neat! Here are some pictures: Interior Stripped: Some rare bits.... Front End Off: Late Night Wrestle With Axles Concludes: VW Passat W8 Superlegeera: Draining Fluids: Basic algebra tells me this is a Bugatti; W8 + W8 = W16 Engine Separated Former M12 Spline Bolt: The block!

BM134 is the OEM fabric for the headliner, which comes foam backed. The same fabric is on the A/B/C pillars but without the foam backing which is BM3109 if you use the foam backed fabric on the pillars its too thick and looks wrong. It's a bit of a bitch to get to NZ though, have to ship it in from the states I believe. This place has it: https://www.cartopsplus.com/Automotive/Headliner/BMW-Cloth-Headlining just select 134 and 3109 from the drop down menu. I emailed them if they had better options for shipping price and they came back with a pretty good quote it was around 100USD to ship 2 meters of 134. I got distracted with other projects and never ordered though. https://lemansautofabrics.co.nz/index.html This wellington place has it on their website but last I checked he didn't have any in stock and said I'd have to try ship it in from overseas.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site, and new to BMW ownership. Just bought a 2007 130i (not sure if anyone knows this one?). Seems to be in great condition, and just the usual oil leaks that seem to be pretty common for BMW's! Looking forward to putting some kms on it, and enjoying the banter on here. Cheers Andy

Semi-related. I spotted a gold W8 estate tavelling the opposite way heading towards Otaki Beach (at speed 😆).

BTW love your write up. I have other cars, but been very taken by the w8 and its refinement and power delivery, plus the comfort. A manual conversion maybe? And whether you like an underdog, or a q car, or just the technicals behind it and the w8 / 12 / 16 story is i guess what defines us. I suspect I may be making a museum of 'dont know and dont care cars, rather than 'i had one of those

Hello Kees I have for my sins a Black Passat W8 auto (save them all!!) so would be keen to keep in touch. Currently in Christchurch so may require some clever freight ideas. MIne is the equivalent of a rescue pet, and most people are very uninterested to help with cam variator / shaky idle etc and slipping lock up torque converter so if anyone wants to chime in please do. It is a genuine one owner from the time imported till me (the car dealer kept for himself at 3 years old and 40k so would have been quite unique, then passed it on to a fried, 91k and very tidy so would like to bankrupt myself to save one from being lost forever.
