4 pointsPenis or genius? So e39 has sold and gone, so have bought a e90 335i sight unseen for $1000 with no wheels or key. Finally arrived and laid eyes on it last Thursday and whipped the dme and cas out of it to get a new key made, which should all be back tomorrow to see if it’s a runner or not. All I knew was it was black and had 17x,000kms on it. wish me luck!

1 pointHi all, Here’s my Topaz blue 2002 E39 540i M Sport. Picked this up from @hqstu three months ago and have since completed over 6,000km. The condition of this vehicle is a testament to extensive work completed by HQSTU previously documented on his e38/39 Central DHB post. Certainly surprises people when you tell them it now has over 296,000km on clock. With all the big jobs already completed by HQSTU very little work has been required. Replaced number 8 coil with genuine BMW coil but after another coil failed the following month I decided to replace the remaining 7 original coils with new matching Bosch coils, this time from FCP. Replaced the rain light sensor (RLS) to restore function of the auto wipers, $32 from Pick a Part. A few other things to sort. There’s always something to fix on a 20 year old BMW.

1 pointMods please delete if not allowed but I am trying to sell my region of the franchise as extenuating circumstances are forcing the sale. Sick of working a dead end job with the feeling that you are getting nowhere fast?Have you been thinking it's about time to be your own boss? Do not hesistate and call me for a discussion as I have a rare opportunity for you. Up for sale is the Waikato Territory for the Alpine Air Franchise. The area in the territory is very vast, from Hampton Downs all the way to the Kaimais. Included in the sale is the work vehicle - 2006 Holden Rodeo, and all the Air Conditioning Equipment required for the new franchisee to do the job. Ute will come with a new wof, rego and RUCs in surplus There is a once a month Franchise fee for operating and no other costs involved. This has been an amazing opportunity with the opportunity to earn $300 plus an hour profit. Please contact me on the numbers listed below to discuss. I have a wide range of clients from Panel shops to Automotive Repair shops, to Car dealerships and agricultural clients which come with the Territory as well as an 0800 number. Full training will be provided as part of the sale of the Territory Franchise as well as the costs for the new franchisee's refrigerant handlers license which is usually a day course in Auckland. No Automotive Air Conditioning experience is necessary, but this along with mechanical experience would be a great advantage to the new franchisee. Let's make it happen and make yourself secure in a recession proof type of field. Contact me on Zero 2 Two 3 Zero 1 Five 6 Three Six. For full transparency, I paid 65k for this territory and that did not include the vehicle and a lot of the equipment provided with the sale. My loss is someone else's gain as I have obtained a steady flow of clientele that use my services every week,day in and day out without fail. Also please note I will be keeping my existing business entity so the new franchisee will have to set up their own. the 022 number will come with the Territory also. Happy to discuss and negotiate with buyer. Mechanical experience is proffered but not necessary. This business is a good earner but family circumstances are forcing me to sell and return to the tools full time at my old repair shop. 022 301 5636

1 pointJust bought my first BMW, a Japanese import 323i. It was looked after really well, until it wasn't. Under the rubbish, parts of the carpet were immaculate. The headliner is sagging and the door skins, no surprise (I went into this with full knowledge and denial of what I getting myself into). However the rest of the interior is in fairly good nick and the stereo is bluetooth integrated. The boot lining and plastic panels beneath had been destroyed by the weight of the old transmission in the boot and the black oil leaking from it. It only needs two tyres, they are bald (massive understatement) as for the running gear I haven't had a close look yet but it seems goodish. The engine idles rough but is otherwise good, I will find out more after I figure out why the Transmission is in limp mode. I've put a new battery in the remote and replaced the fuse that got the central locking working and now I can programme the remote. Reading all this I feel like I paid too much, but I'm stoked every time I see it and hear the doors close and figure out something new on it and I spend most of my spare time watching YouTube videos on e36s and all associated repairs (its cold outside). I've bought a user manual and I'm ready to get my hands dirty. Wish me well on my journey

1 pointyep the manual 316i FL is the lightest spec e30, less sound deadening, no electric seats, no sunroof so lower c of g and best of all no rusty sunroof leaking! they are the bomb. give everything on your 33 year old nana car a birthday, rubbers bushes QUALITY tyres fuel lines cooling system shocks fluidsbrakes... wof rego insurance, and go and enjoy the pure spirit of driving an analogue manual car. teach yourself to drive in the wet without losing the tail, learn cadence braking, learn to heel-and-toe double de-clutch. more fun than your first shag and longer lasting too! 😂

1 pointDamn you put a hex on me there Yep i setup the IR receiver on a breadboard and captured the signals off the remote but have yet to try and play back or otherwise deal with the captured data. Interestingly the captured hex for the items which are already working did not match so either I'm not getting it or there are multiple commands (generations ?) for the same thing. What I captured for the phone function I need to implement was: #################################### Basic Dump ######################################### Protocol=NEC Address=0x7286 Command=0x56 Raw-Data=0xA9567286 32 bits LSB first Send with: IrSender.sendNEC(0x7286, 0x56, <numberOfRepeats>); #################################### Full Dump ######################################### Protocol=NEC Address=0x7286 Command=0x56 Raw-Data=0xA9567286 32 bits LSB first Send with: IrSender.sendNEC(0x7286, 0x56, <numberOfRepeats>); Raw result in internal ticks (50 us) - with leading gap rawData[68]: -65535 +180,-87 +13,- 9 +13,-32 +13,-32 +12,- 9 +13,-10 +12,-10 +12,-11 +12,-32 +12,-10 +12,-33 +12,-10 +12,-10 +12,-33 +12,-32 +12,-32 +13,- 9 +13,-10 +12,-33 +12,-32 +12,-10 +12,-32 +13,- 9 +13,-32 +12,-10 +13,-32 +12,-10 +12,-10 +13,-32 +12,-10 +12,-32 +13,-10 +13,-31 +13 Sum: 1325 Raw result in microseconds - with leading gap rawData[68]: -3276750 +9000,-4350 + 650,- 450 + 650,-1600 + 650,-1600 + 600,- 450 + 650,- 500 + 600,- 500 + 600,- 550 + 600,-1600 + 600,- 500 + 600,-1650 + 600,- 500 + 600,- 500 + 600,-1650 + 600,-1600 + 600,-1600 + 650,- 450 + 650,- 500 + 600,-1650 + 600,-1600 + 600,- 500 + 600,-1600 + 650,- 450 + 650,-1600 + 600,- 500 + 650,-1600 + 600,- 500 + 600,- 500 + 650,-1600 + 600,- 500 + 600,-1600 + 650,- 500 + 650,-1550 + 650 Sum: 66250 Result as internal 8bit ticks (50 us) array - compensated with MARK_EXCESS_MICROS=20 uint8_t rawTicks[67] = {180,87, 13,9, 13,32, 13,32, 12,9, 13,10, 12,10, 12,11, 12,32, 12,10, 12,33, 12,10, 12,10, 12,33, 12,32, 12,32, 13,9, 13,10, 12,33, 12,32, 12,10, 12,32, 13,9, 13,32, 12,10, 13,32, 12,10, 12,10, 13,32, 12,10, 12,32, 13,10, 13,31, 13}; // Protocol=NEC Address=0x7286 Command=0x56 Raw-Data=0xA9567286 32 bits LSB first Result as microseconds array - compensated with MARK_EXCESS_MICROS=20 uint16_t rawData[67] = {8980,4370, 630,470, 630,1620, 630,1620, 580,470, 630,520, 580,520, 580,570, 580,1620, 580,520, 580,1670, 580,520, 580,520, 580,1670, 580,1620, 580,1620, 630,470, 630,520, 580,1670, 580,1620, 580,520, 580,1620, 630,470, 630,1620, 580,520, 630,1620, 580,520, 580,520, 630,1620, 580,520, 580,1620, 630,520, 630,1570, 630}; // Protocol=NEC Address=0x7286 Command=0x56 Raw-Data=0xA9567286 32 bits LSB first uint16_t address = 0x7286; uint16_t command = 0x56; uint32_t rawData = 0xA9567286; Pronto Hex as string char prontoData[] = "0000 006D 0022 0000 015B 00A7 001A 0011 001A 003D 001A 003D 0018 0011 001A 0012 0018 0012 0018 0014 0018 003D 0018 0012 0018 003F 0018 0012 0018 0012 0018 003F 0018 003D 0018 003D 001A 0011 001A 0012 0018 003F 0018 003D 0018 0012 0018 003D 001A 0011 001A 003D 0018 0012 001A 003D 0018 0012 0018 0012 001A 003D 0018 0012 0018 003D 001A 0012 001A 003B 001A 06C3 ";

0 pointsBeing a good(ish) dad I grabbed a hot chocolate for my daughter, put it in the cup holder - you can see where this is going. Anyway how to I get the gear selector surround off so I can clean hot chocolate out of the switch gear. Yes it was a FFS moment, can't win some days. At least it's not terminal just sticky buttons, nothing quite as exciting as jamming the DSC off in the rain thanks to some sugary goo in the button. Skids on
