Hi, sorry to bring an old topic back. I was searching for any information about an 850i that I own and stumbled on this. Really cool to see it there, and i'll be getting in touch with Mike. Unfortunately I don't know a lot about the car's past but would really like to find out anything I can about it. It's new plate is Mea293. I bought the car in Paihia, and have brought it back to Wellington. From what I know, it was involved in an estate sale and so lost its paperwork there. If anyone here knows anything about the car, that would be much appreciated. I've attached some pictures of it now. The picture in front of the house was from when I first picked it up.

After 10 months of ownership and fairly constant wrenching on the car I thought I better start a thread to document and discuss the on-going project. Shout out to @Sammo and his thread for the inspiration!! My first car was a Lachssilber 1987 M325i so have always had a soft spot for the Mtech 1 e30’s. Would have been a lot cheaper if I had kept it rather than selling it for $6k back in 2014… crazy how much the market has changed since then. Side note, if anyone has any info on that car I would love to hear where it’s at and how it’s going. Rego was NF9539. Current goal with the car is to use it semi daily / on going project. I have already done a fair bit to the car over the last 10 months which I will list below. "How can you verify its factory manual?" Do people who claim to be that interested really not know how to check?

Most places probably arent going to repair that for customers. Plenty of techs etc would on their own work hacks which aren't being driven hard.

Not at all. But then you read comments like this... Just wanted to say what a lovely e30 factory example very clean , cannot believe it hasn’t sold yet at a very reasonable price . Best of luck with the sale someone will get a great investment for the future 👍🏻

Bled clutch and brakes, fitted d shaft, heat shield and exhaust. Once you jump in and out a few times...it's quite awrrite. Another feeling altogether sitting in this car. It's like the Ls was meant for a race spek like this.. 3.9 ratio diff in this one, with thicker shafts...last one was 3.15...so ...😳

Surge tank, fuel lines, battery, wiring, radiator, oil cooler positioning & plans.. Rear mount radiator sounds great, electric water pump to help the cycle, will keep the engine & bay much cooler, and room for a turbo or 8 into 1 exhaust.. setup ...We'll see.

No, if there was no spark it wouldn't be running anyway it is to do with injector pulse simultaneously or semi sequentially in motronic 1.3 E30, not needed on OP car

Thats the cylinder identification sensor thats used on the facelift motronic 1.1/1.3. You dont need it and i would look at cutting it off.
