lol, i love the sport alcantara interior on the E39. If i got another it would have to either have it already, or i'd swap it in. So much nicer than leather.

Driftit is no longer invited to the bimmersport pipe and slippers monthly meet. Hard agree on brightly coloured E39's looking still modernish, but try find one. Any colour you like sir, as long as it's black or silver. On the other hand though, the alcantara interior in so many m-sport 530i's make them look like a seventies Mercedes, one of the worst interiors BMW has ever done. I cannot f**king stand painted belt-lines when they shouldn't be, for some reason the E36 was a particularly bad offender for this crime. If it was facelift body colour like Sreten's on the green it would modernise the look a bit?

Compact is so underrated man. It's gotten so bad they even turn my head any time I see one driving around. Interesting point about the exhaust tips. I debated it when I had the donor 330 because it had chrome tips, maybe I should get a set from pickapart and see how they look.

The half leather\half M-texture is what id take given a choice, i think M5 only or custom in E39 but in my E36 compact its great, best of both worlds.

100% agree. That interior would be one of the primary things I'd be looking for purchasing an E39. Same when I was looking for my compact. It's actually quite rare in the E39. Almost all of them came with some variation of leather.

I was going to keep quiet, but I can't. I love alcantara too, much better than leather. Also love green and caramel (my M5 🙂 ) but I like the tan too. Though, it is a bit on the light side on this car.

Took the drivers side guard off to have a look and see if I find any more rust. But appears to be in good shape, rust appears to be limited to the one hole and hasn’t spread. will be getting the rust hole repair quoted by some panelbeaters not something I want to take on myself.

Saturdays progress. Engine and gearbox are out, and at the scrapyard. Removed sound deadening, removed rear seat, removed boot trims. Pretty much stripped as far back as it needs to be at this point for rust repair/paint. Still trying to workout the best way to get rust and paint sorted without spending a fortune. engine and box out. Was not a fun Job as I couldn’t use a ratchet strap to lift the back of the gearbox once the engine was up and out, so I needed to lift the whole thing up and over the front core support by hand, not a fun job extremely heavy thing. But got it done. brake booster/master are out too pretty much a bare engine bay apart from some wiring and brake lines. Yet to figure out how to get the fuse box out. Most of the stuff on the firewall is glue residue but there are also some rusty spots that will need some attention, no holes however.

On another note, I wonder which crack head priced the auction estimate on this...

How good does this thing look! Seeing it gives me serious second thoughts about parting out our little ugly duckling of a ti I've still got sitting in a mate's paddock every time. Would be cool to chuck an M54 in it, if only I had the time... Have you thought about getting some nice chrome exhaust tips for it? Part no. 18107500194 (different to 330i ones). Only real thing that sticks out to my eye.
