Pics: PA3330/AE54276 when we took it on trade and UN3871/AE53800 when I spotted it in Taihape post the Covid $62K sale. The other Brilliantrots: BMW649/AE53932 which is now caged with an M54. HOT325/AE54389 which has been off the road for some time. Haven't seen any other than these four in the last 25 years of monitoring open market sales. For reference - E30MS is actually Zinnobar and the entire kit was dealer fitted here in NZ - the headliner was beige when I looked at buying it in 2002.

Hi All, Just a short introduction. Iโ€™m Jon, Live out in Huia and just got my 2014 320d. Been a few years since I had a Bimmer. 20 years ago I had two 1996 E36 325. They were a 4 door and a coupe. Anyways, thatโ€™s me. Just here to learn a bit more about my car.

Yes, kind of, through BMW NZ. With a load of other fixings and fastenings to put the rear MTech 1 bumper on. Got the front bumper and associated parts back today, just going through to work out what is missing or needs replacing on there as well. Surprisingly these little labels are different on the front and rear (very UN-German) and one is NLA so I got two of the other. Whilst not 100% ideal this is closer than not having the labels. There are people around on the net that do reproductions of the most obscure stuff, and you could probably get them cheaper through there, but I am lucky enough to get a good discount.

Long time (not that long) reader, first time poster. I've always had a soft spot for BMW's. Grew up around them. Past bmw's (in order) - excuse the 3x m135i, but you just cant beat them value for money, especially when a cheap one comes up. 2013 m135i , 2012 m135i, 2003 330i m sport e46, 2014 m135i , 2008 335d e90. Currently have a land cruiser, but wanting to add an m3 to the stables. Considering an f80 or an e90.

Not too sure, possibly low on oil. Last service it had in March i think they only put 4.5l in it, as when I drove it home from Hamilton it pretty much straight away asked for more oil. Checking the level in mm I put 2l in and it was around 72mm at normal temp on a flat surface.

Sold my nice blue 130i. Will actually miss it. I didn't drive it much but it changed gear so smoothly compared to the horrible LCI GM box in my white one. Not a lot of interest in the manual car down this way. Everyone seems to be in Auckland and they are all so flakey. I think maybe I am giving too much info in the ad and should be targeting the clueless BMW owner. Might just hold onto it as it is so good to drive. Clean it up further.

Blew a head gasket (cyls 1-4) so spent the past six months sorting that and coming up with a better expansion tank solution (from a Merc A180). Did chain guides and OSV at the same time and now it runs perfectly and not a drop of fluid leaking anywhere (probably for the first time since either the donor or the wagon left the factory!!). Gave it a wash to celebrate.

That's what every customer that supplied wrong or crap parts said to a workshop

Really interesting question and responses, most of which I agree with. Things have changed over the years! Bellars used to allow customer supplied parts (early/mid 2000's), I know because I did that a lot with the M3. It doesn't surprise me that many no longer support this. As above, if you have a good relationship with a not-too-big shop, they will often accept customer supplied parts... there are a few members here with shops that will. Main reasons for not supporting this are discussed above in this thread but, let's be honest, the bottom line is they make no margin off customer supplied parts and, for better or worse, that's their choice. I have had recent success requesting work at a shop and indicating (with links) what I could land the parts for and advising them, that if they could match that price, I'd get them to order the parts directly (basically from FCP or Spareto). The shop set up a trade account with the vendors, got the parts cheaper than I could and made a little margin, I had to wait a few weeks for the booking (for the parts to arrive - also a challenge with the NZ BMW network because they keep very little in country), but I paid the same as I would have buying the parts directly, the shop made a little margin and was happy with the (genuine or OEM) parts, and we all walked away happy with less money lining BMW NZ's greedy pockets. This problem wouldn't exist of course if dealers didn't want to put a 100% margin (or more), on parts. This is not a problem unique to NZ but BMW NZ really takes the piss.

Hi Ray, I'd be keen to help out with trying to drive more activity on the Bimmersport site - and facebook page, I'm finally back in the BMW game (as a passion, not just a daily) after a long hiatus - having kids, selling the pride & joy, building a house, getting screwed over by the builder going into liquidation! Lol - long story there. But I'm back in the hot seat with a 135i, and plans for some minor mods. I also work at Meguiar's NZ (Smits Group) as marketing manager - so would love to support the Bimmersport community with a club discount code, and all the car care knowledge I can offer (been in that game 15 years) I also have graphic design, digital design and marketing experience which could come in handy. I'm also on the Ellerslie Concours committee, and would love to be associated with a 'club' as committee members, are not paid for their hard work, but their clubs can benefit from having an appointed committee member.
