My Dad had a 1961 Ferrari GT California with bugger all k's on it in his collection, I took a day off school and drove it into town, left it with Valet parking. When I came back it had 100's of K's on it. I had to jack the back up and run it in reverse. !! This did not turn out well ...... ........ oH no, wait, that was my mate Ferris Bueller !

Looked into this. Decided it was uneconomical. To do it properly you have to spend so much money you might as well just save it and buy an m3.

"A computer enhanced image" of a speed sign... Looks like a shitty 'Paint' job.

Actually the main reason I recommend against this is the lock out of the DME ... once it's flashed you are basically bound to them for life with that DME - so any issues you'd have to go back to them to correct (unless you know someone with a BDM of course and took a dump of your EPROMs before you flashed it with the tune - making it reversible). The knowledge is already out there to do basically what they do all by yourself to a certain extent, so why would you bother with it - there's a reason they stop contributing to the major DME discussion about it and if you read the history they were helpful in the beginning until some of the guys started to figure out thing they did exclusively. In my opinion they would have sold far more airboxes had they shared their knowledge with the majority enthusiasts out there that wanted more from their car ... but I guess there's Karbonius now to save the day for those that wanted that route. Another way is to do a Map rail conversion and flash the CSL software with a HP DME - I know a few US guys have been doing this - basically a CSL without the airbox (apparently runs mint). I will have CSL air-rail soon, so if there are members on here that have access to cad or can turn objects into CNC readable files, I am happy to lend this out for the MAP sensor mount to be turned into a CNC file and I'll get it mass produced for everyone.

Have followed a couple of supercharged m52 build threads on e46fanatics.com - I'd advise against it. They're spending upwards of 10kUSD for full installation along with additional drivetrain parts to handle the power, and even then that doesn't guarantee reliability. If your 328CI isn't manual you'll also have a hard time with the slushbox with that amount of power. I'd advise against it, If you have the cash for a supercharger then you can save a little more, sell the 328ci and buy an M3.

Is no bmw but spotted a Delorean yesterday!! No pictures but man it was cool.

I browsed this option a while back. Around $6500 USD for Supercharger Alone, thats a fairly basic all round one to produce 365hp at the crank, and then there is shipping, Customs, Installation, tuning, deciphering whether the stock running gear can handle that much extra power etc etc. Just buy an M3. Seriously..

Give me a call when the time comes still have a 3.0 block and heads sitting in my shed.

Dunno about that specifically, but make it a bookable offence to drive in the outside lane at 90 when there's nothing in the left lane. Enforce those 'Keep left unless passing' instructions.

its only the big open dual laners like waikato express way and northern toll rd, which are great bits of road. Plus make it illegal to do less than 110klm in the right lane!! .. AKA the BMW lane.

To make any vagcom ftdi cable into a galletto 1260 just name the cable as EOBD and fix the serial number as 47515789. Done.

Listen to Tom. He knows what he is talking about. Has every cable ever. Pretty sure he is collecting them. Not sure they will appreciate in value Tom. Maybe look at Basketball cards or something

Why?? Waste of money. I have a galletto cable ... But you can modify any vagcom into a galletto ... It just need to have the correct cable name and serial number then it'll function like the real thing.

Lol yep that's what I did. Beating 540's onto the motorway from the staging lights. Smoking them out like a 60's Massey Ferguson tractor. All whilst getting 700kms to a tank around town and 1100 on the open road. Diesel Power. Shame about RUC and extra Rego costs.....

Can now modify ews3 modules including rewrite VIN, km in module, add and delete keys (even ebay keys with correct transponder chip) - can help source these keys from ebay. Tried and tested on my own car with ebay keys and second hand ews modules. No more paying excessive dealer fees for new keys.

For our racecar we built I used the 1L Asahi can. It weighed 20g I think, did the job phenomenally. You can buy the 2L jugs. Super light and specifically stiff. The smaller proper lid would be easier too.

Ignore this - OEM tape deck is ugly and useless. I think the bonnet would look grand with some aftermarket 19' rims and tinted windows!

Countdown sell these in various sizes, pretty cheap, might work?

Safest to get a taxi. Don't think you have much room to complain if you have given them your keys and signed the disclaimer... Had a SW20 MR2 GT with all the trimmings when I was a younger man. Took it to a Auto Sparky close to home for some minor wiring fault. It came flying past me doing warp speed 5 minutes later as I was walking home... When I questioned them about it the owner told me they had to road test it!

i so agree its a dam good looking car or was at least insurance companies dont quit have the same passion as the owner sadly

Yeah, to be honest I am not surprised these sorts of things go on. I'd be livered if I was in your shoes. A 5km drive is enough to drive a car cold, thrash it and do some damage.

If you got $7k less an excess you did a lot better than me selling mine.

Have you looked at the Potenza RE11s? I had been running PS2s up till now and found they were wearing out quickly. Changed to the RE11s and found they had a better ride and handled fantastically on the track days. Bought mine through Tirerack.com / kiwishipping as no-one in NZ stocked. Picked the RE11s from feedback from US forums where they are well liked by the experts there ... Just a thought ...

There are many possible opinions on this - a bit like asking what oil to use. People will ask you how much you value your head and whats inside it, even though this is not really instructive. Some will mock you for cheaping out if you spend less than $1000. Others will tell you where to get a helmet for $150 that meets the rules and consider it unnecessary to spend more. Make sure you know the rules for whatever you want to compete in. The most important thing is to find a helmet that fits. Try on quite a few as you may find that some brands do not actually work for you no matter what size you select. You might just have to find a different brand to get one that works and this applies to high end helmets as well as cheap ones. Apart from fit, you can get more if you pay more. For example, light weight laminate helmets are expensive but they are much nicer to wear as they don't pull on your neck with g forces and the same would apply if you crash. The more expensive helmets will most likely have SAH rating so they can be easily used with HANS. Consider getting a balaclava too, even if just to keep your helmet much cleaner and nicer. Cars can be hot.
