Hi guys and girls Just a young BMW lover here with a 2007 335i. Recently have looked into tuning and modifying my car so would love any tips from you who have already done it! Already learning so much from reading previous posts as I have very basic car mechanical knowledge but would love to learn more. Please excuse the bad photos!

Hi guys, Been a member for a a year or so now but I have only been on as often as Trump cares for the American people.. F*** all. My wife has a e39 528I and ive just got into a sweet little e30 316i. I am the fourth owner I think. I picked it up through work where it was sold brand new. (Team Mcmillan BMW) The original owner who brought it kept it from new until 2012 where it was sold to one of the techs then to another tech a few years later and a few more years after that to me, another bloodie tech. It is bone stock. I would love to how ever maybe manual convert it if I can get a full manual conversion at a decent price. Anyways here it is, no more woffles from me. James.

My favorite color on the E30, nice ride Towbar is optimistic for a 316 though? Even a bike hanging on the back of that thing would hurt your chances of getting highway speed

Suspiciously low mileage. Not likely the maintenance on it has been maintained, I'd think.

That is cool Nicely presented - but could have done with a vacuum eh! Should have a black stereo in it too methinks.

Nothing that flash really, bit of maintenance on the 'vert, cambelt and stuff, and playing with a 5-stud rear end on the race car. none of which is happening at any kind of speed really...

I have mixed feelings on the interior - I like contrast interiors and I like ones that are different but I'm just not sure about this.

Jepers, at 530K that'd almost be a Check the fuel and fill the oil car? I thought my old E34 540 at 380K was long in the tooth, still went hard.

I love the exterior colour - the interior however...

Nice looking car. Those are some enormous wheels you have on there!

What is wrong with people, they have an e39 540 and a chrysler prowler and they are selling the BMW!!

I grant the colour (and the car itself) is pretty, but having seen a very-well-maintained model languish and not sell at $4500 recently here, I struggle to see $7k being a reasonable price.

Err, Gentlemen. I should like to take this opportunity to suggest - in the most politest terms - that HDR is not a 'happening thing'. The only exception being when you can't tell it's HDR. The acid test is that if it looks like Trump (over-orange, over yellow, over-green, over-blue... perhaps there's a tie sellotaped to the front like a kindergarten collage, or hipster mixed-media artwork), there's no subtlety, the image is broken and searing your eyeballs. 'Bit like Trump, really. Now, back to the car. It's a good looking wagon. Even with an acid-trip Instagram filter! @TermiPeteNZ and @treone have amongst the freshest experience in owning/operating similar wagons here. The thread quoted above is a good one. Friends will let friends buy X5's, but friends should not encourage friends to image stack whacky HDR output.

Scott at Fraser Cars finally placed the certificate by LVVTA defined as 'heavily modified/scratch built car' on Monday. Only taken about 4 months. Ended up doing a bump steer test, but no drama's there. Plate ran out of space so the additional info is on the paperwork. No room in the engine bay so its loudly placed on drivers B pillar. The two step installed is eating pre cat oxygen sensors. Not really surprised. May look to remove this function. There is little need for 2 step from standstill for a daily, but its sure fun in the new Waterview tunnel. Ala sort of this vid below apart from louder. But at speed its quicker to get the shotgun/flame boom part. Especially with hardly much mufflering in the exhaust. New progress with some non performance items, managed by some grace of the BMW God to find & buy these, OEM DTM E92 M3 GTR mirrors direct from BMW Motorsport in Germany (the CF housings and mirror glass). They are not bolt on's to an E82, but I have 3D printing in ABS at the ready and my old stock 135i mirrors to scan and model from. This will form the part that joins the CF mirror housing to the door, the triangle piece. They are circa 2012 items. IND makes them for a E92 but wants spastic money. Rather do it Kiwi and make me own ala the first photo from RKP composites. These arrive in a fortnight from .de Daniel from Brisbane has updated his RHD ST exhaust manifold. I'm not 100% on the design of this (due to heavy space restrictions), but I really like the CNC'd flange for sure. Also he can provide a slim Jim version of the stock steering column shaft that is so chunky and limits downpipe size likewise wastegate pipe screamer/plumb in room. Noting that the stocker is fat for a reason, by providing a crumple zone at its lower part in the event of a crash. Saves the legs n all.....I'm still keen to get hold of this over a local custom fab'd one which should save R&D time and both are being fabricated by Daniel for the NZ clone. In the mean time I wait patiently as usual this time for a new O2 sensor to turn up so the car wont splutter around at 7lb boost. Should be in this weekend and back to full skidz strength.

Yeah, it definitely saved me a BUNCH of grief, I was probably going to have to buy it and hide it at a friends place in Auckland for a month or two haha.

This is true. And I don't want to get into a pissing competition but it's important to note that whilst it's possible to optimise an adjustable setup most people will never be able to do this and will end up with a worse setup than an off-the-shelf non-adjustable setup. The reality of optimising a suspension setup is that you need a ton of knowledge, a ton of experience and a ton of time. Most people don't have any of that. An adjustable setup in the hands of somebody that can tune it properly is by far the most adaptable setup and as such can be optimised for all sorts of conditions. An adjustable setup in the wrong hands is a disaster waiting to happen. And that's exactly why I don't have adjustable suspension. I don't need it and by accepting the inherent (albeit small) compromises of a matched non-adjustable setup I've saved time, money and frustration. I've also lost nothing because I don't have a race car. Most people I know with an adjustable setup fiddle a bit, get it feeling fine and never revisit the settings. Might as well just get a fixed setup. Although ride-height flexibility with adjustable shocks is appealing in and of itself to some people.
