Hi Everyone, I have imported a 1973 E9 coupe. Mechanically the running gear looks ok. The engine is a M30B34 and the compression on cylinder 6 is about 8.5 bar and the rest are around 12.5. When I took the rocker cover off it looked new inside. no sign of water in the oil so I am taking the engine out and going to take the head off. Any ideas on what the issue is? The car stood for about 6 years before I bought it. I'm hoping it's Just the rings. I can't figure out if the engine is a high compression European one or a low compression USA one , given the compression test what would your guess be? Once the head off I'll know for sure. The car has triple 45 Webers, a 265 Getrag box and a limited slip diff. The suspension seems to have slightly lower springs, Bilstien shocks, large anti roll bars front and rear. Apart from any engine issues I am after some E9 parts, does anyone have any or even an old e9 decomposing in the garden. Let me know . I am also after a period style black leather steering wheel. Also guidance on rebuilding the power steering pump and steering box (The box seems to have little play in it but I want to make sure it is fluid tight. Where can I get a gasket for the back case of the gearbox. It appears to be leaking from the bolts that hold it on. I could use liquid gasket, but would prefer the real gasket. I would also like some RHD headers as well if anyone has some ideas. I tried Motorsport down under but they have not responded to my emails. Are they still in business? Thanks for letting me join the group. Cheers Mark

Brilliant! I remembered it when Ross owned it. Great car!!

I owned this about 12 years ago. Had it for 3 years then sold it to Ross @ BM Workshop. The present owner bought it off Ross. All BMW enthusiasts. Genuine unmolested example.

Thanks TermiPeteNZ, there certainly is! I've been loving driving it. Had three trips between Canterbury and Blenheim this past week, lovely to cruise along the Kaikoura coast in it. Few issues still need sorting, gotta get front shocks replaced (haven't figured out where to get that done yet or where to source the parts, and the LCM needs repairing/replacing as it's causing various problems. Other than that, loving it.

Well I guess all the "WANTED: 4DOOR M3" threads on here amounted to nothing or this would have sold well before it even got to TM. Awesome car in a stunning and rare colour.

Can everyone stop buying houses so I can buy one and have somewhere to put cars like this I want to buy? Good luck with the sale. Great base for a race car or road car.

Not sure many people buy them as an investment. Most people have an interest in them and if it holds value then bonus. If it goes up in value double bonus......

Yup - they are ridiculous. Cult following though, to the point where there are 911 owners who won't countenance any other Porsche as being worthy of the name. (They hate being reminded that the 928 was the first ground-up design by Porsche, for Porsche... )

Its been years since I've been on this forum but I hate to think what my old cars are now worth in this market. This is more an exercise on the money spent and the cars now lost to me! M325 318is manual e36 touring ac schnitzer body kit All NZ new. Gone but not forgotten!

The car is now certified which ended up dragging out a lot longer than I expected mostly due to small issues unrelated to the swap. Also did a coil on plug conversion which really cleans up the engine bay. Overall the car feels great, way more e30s should of come to NZ with this engine car feels so light and loves to rev. Next up is a bit of a Hartge tribute (body kit and wheels) Edit: Also forgot to mention that driveshaft loops weren't required due to unmodified driveshaft and less than 50% power increase.
