You do need them for a WOF if they came from factory with one, been like that for a long time https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/exhaust/exhaust-emissions

Just FYI, bit of a watch but it's interesting to see the results, done by an independent guy that has no affiliations with any company.

Don't worry Jon, the Originality Police will be kept busy counting rivets at the Land Rover club for the next six decades ?

That's crazy. Timeserts are clearly inferior. And they look like a PITA to use compared to Helicoils.

One lives in Dannevirke. Red in colour. Very nice condition.

What are you buying @325_driver? If it's typical stuff then I've always found FCP's shipping to be cost effective.

This ^^^^^^ Go with the bigger stud if you are going to this much hassle

If you are going to the trouble of helicoils or timeserts why not just go to a 12mm stud instead? Then you can run a coarse thread like the alloy wants and go to a decent depth. Helicoil vs timesert is a heck of an argument. One issue I take with timeserts is the ridiculous stress risers everywhere being a cut thread. The second issue is the relatively low area involved in both of them. It's not much extra effort to run a 12mm stud

@BozzaFC does it have the all important owners manual accessory? if not I have one if you want it. Funny what you find after a clear out...

I should have one, will check on Sunday when I'm home and update with condition etc. if you don't find anything sooner. Freight to Wellington should only be $5 or so, I'll work out a price as well and we can go from there. Are you after the tail light, boot lid section or both?

Why the M badge delete? As far as I'm aware the NZ new m sports had them from new so "factory"? Mine is staying right where it is...

Pointers to such a tool? (not that I've spent any time searching) I'm thinking of doing all of my cam cover bolts in the aluminium. With a suitable guide for a hand drill it's an easy enough job at home. I've already done 2 of the 14 (?) out of necessity.
