after seeing the ‘no signal’ everytime I went into reverse I felt motivated to get this reverse camera in. Quite a bit more involved that I would have liked but overall just fiddly. Few learnings, even if the ad says it’s HD, if it’s going through an RCA you can guarantee its actually only going to be 720p. I got the number plate light and camera and it’s quite fiddly to put together, if I were to do it again I would opt for a camera that screws into the trim, and save mucking round tapping into the number plate lights. I had to do quite a bit of dremelling to get my camera to fit. my camera points down to much. I can live with it as I have a rear window to look out but I would like it tilted up a bit more. the cool thing was the RCA had a little positive pig tail on it which connected straight to the head unit so didn’t have to tap into the reverse lights. I did have to cut the RCA plug off though in order to feed it through the elephant trunk and then attach it again. I routed the USB‘s under the cup holders, it didn't really fit, but once the phone cable is attached it can pop out the coin bit quite nicely. I went through the elephant trunk and taped it to the existing loom running down the outside of the window, then in through the grommet at the bottom (tell me your car is a central Otago car without telling me it’s a central Otago car) a lot of gravel dust to clean up here. Once that was all working and made into a bit of loom with some soft tape I replaced the battery ground cable that I broke ages ago. still working on getting the splash screen working, at the moment the unit won’t recognise the files on my usb stick. Other than that, it’s working awesome. I suspect the encroachment on the number plate might be an issue at some point, I think the plate will just have to be lowered though. quick clean and jobs a goodin.

Seems about right to me, its a buyers market at the moment with people spending less on stuff. These cars are common and aren't exactly cheap to run either so you really go to price them to sell.

Hard to say without knowing the reserve... Its an N54 / PFL (although seems most manuals are).

I'd argue you have to be a way better driver to handle an F80 than an e30. The F series M cars are so lairy. A lot of pros and cons to each. And I think depends on your use case. These cars came out as daily 'do it all' cars. And have aged into weekend special cars. I haven't driven every M car, (no m5, no g80 etc.). I am imagining what some are like based on driving other variants. Weekend M2 CS M3 CSL M3 E30 Evo Daily M3 G81 F80 ZCP E39 M5

The LCI plastic valve cover has the bolts you don't need to replace. They're actually captive in the cover and can't be removed (except for the two in front of the valvetronic motor but they can also be reused). A couple of things to consider, if you haven't already. Make sure you also replace the valvetronic motor gasket is that is very prone to leaking too. While the cover is off it is also a good time to replace the eccentric shaft sensor (and gasket too) as that is prone to failure and you have to remove the valve cover to do it. Also, the crankcase breather hose is really hard to remove from the back of the valve cover and also easy to break. If you're careful, you can reuse it, I bought a replacement when I did it because if it does break you don't want to have to wait to get one. Lastly, the plastic valve covers themselves can be prone to cracking, so there is a chance that you replace all the gaskets then find out you actually need to replace the whole cover. Also, the PCV is integral in the cover so if that fails, you also need to replace the whole cover. For this reason I replaced everything when I did. It turned it into a pretty expensive job but there's enough labour that you don't really want to have to do it twice (or more)...
