Right so i finished doing cambelt, waterpump, tensioner, belts, dist. cap and rotor and now the engine pulses or hunts at idle in a definite pattern pulses or hunts between 500-600rpm (shown in video) We were SOOO careful with timing, got the Timing marks lined up, took the belt off and put the new one on straight after (not ruling out timing though ) So are there any other suggestions and possiblities?? The battery was disconnected for over a month so left it running for awhile incase it had sumthng to do with the ECU but no luck there Video shows what i mean by pulsing or hunting Sh!t happens lol all part of learning

^^ has to be that, fitted perfect other than wrong number of outlets/inlets, ohwel these thinsg happen haha learnt my lesson

so i got a waterpump and got it on etc put the new distributor cap new belts on etc, tightened everything up, and have now noticed the pipe (between yellow lines) doesnt have a place to goto on the new waterpump my fault should have checked against the old one to be sure... do i need this??...i can pretty much bet i do huh does anyone have a easy solution thats not too rangi before i go rip the pump of and get another one tomorrow??? gaaahhhhhhh damnd cars

quick update got the rest of my parts, thanks to Gavin at Euroitalian! even got some mints hopefully car should be running again by sunday evening and i can take it for a quick blat round the block just the sump issue to go then it should be all easier stuff

my mate at supercheap auto said a customer came in yesterday saying there was some racing on at ruapuna this weekend, he thinks the guy said E30's ... he couldnt really remember much sooo ill ask here haha is anything happening??

hi all, since im back on track with my 325i project finally im now after a crack free/no deep scratches/no previous repairs aka GOOD condition sump, how much is this going to set me back? let me know what you've got, (model is: 1986 325i) Cheers, Andrew

would the sump fit the 2.5 out of an 1986 325i or is there a difference between the motors?

3rd party compulsary etc is all great in theory but some people just wont be able get insurance or it's too expensive and they'll just risk getting a ticket...half of the people with no insurance drive around in $500 bombs with no license anyway so they just dont care if the car gets taken and they lose their license abit longer... the media is just finding and filming all the idiots, i go "crusing" every now and then but im not a boy racer with cut springs and sh!t, iv'e even met small bussiness owners out there doing it, most people enjoy talking to like minded people and admiring others cars, it's all the dicks in their sub $1000 un WOF'd matt black cars with half an exhaust etc who bottle people and cause accidents, and im sorry to say but they're generally lower class. the police need to focus their efforts on them. "hooning" has been around for years, and it'll just continue, unfortunity theres the non car enthusiasts who think it's just plain cool to like cars are generally the idiots who attract media attention bob parker needs to focus more on taxi driver stabbings in town etc then a bunch of young guys driving round in circles...or squares... (im not saying all focus needs to be off the scene, it would just get worse then) its the same old story - the minority ruining of for the majority, just come down on the minority, not everyone... thats my view, i dont go boy racing every weekend so no doubt its flawed with some incorrect ideas but its there to be debated
