Bet this car isn't insured yet, eh Ollie. Love the wheels ps. I've managed to break 1 so far, be careful, I did 3 and had no problems, then got a bit cocky, and next thing, ping, found a small chip where it had started. Worst is putting the insert back in the rubber.

Check these out Emma, not baskets, but nice, right size too. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=94997561

Didn't think BMW did a 4.11 diff Paul, not legal for the series if they did anyway. You really want a 4.10 don't you?
-
I'd rather hit the wall at Puke again than see that!

2dr or 4 dr, sunroof or not, power steering or manual? cheers.

Mine comes up at around 990kg with 20lts of gas. A 318i by the way.

Bump, someone must want to go racing?

Yeah, it's designed for showers etc, works the same as jewellers rouge, a very fine dry powder you mix with water to form a paste and it does the same as a cutting compound on your car. Works well with a polishing machine as well.

Maybe the mother in law in the back seat?
-
What box?
-
Yeah, fine to drive disconnected. Manual rack needs the manual connector to the steering column. The knuckle connection at the bottom of the column is longer for the manual rack. They can be a pain in the arse to get.

On the other hand, I would guess close to $200 in parts, and a fair bit of work involved. Not the kind of problems you would like, and if left can lead to major failure. I'd say you got off lightly, and IMO not too badly stung at all. Let's just hope it's all fixed?

It does cover the M40, and agreed that it's the best.

Just a matter of removing and cleaning hopefully if that's what it is.

First thing is to open the bonnet and check and clean the outlet for this area. This is a rubber fitting next to the battery tray, on the firewall. Pull it off and clean it and the hole behind it, make sure when you spray water in the vents that it flows freely out. Then take out the vent on the drivers side, take the wiper blade off and the vent unclips. You should get a good look at the area behind now and see any sign of rust or holes. It may be coming in from the fan area as well, you can get at this by unscrewing the panel with the wiring on the firewall and looking in behind. The other area you need to look at is the battery tray, the recess at the back bottom on the firewall again can be prone to rust holes, remove the battery and sound deadening behind and have a look. Good luck.

According to the bible you need a 240 BMS, MB, or BMT. The gearbox number is stamped into the casing at the front edge of the bellhousing. The number is just a serial number, it is the letters on the end in which you are interested. These 3 sets of letters, either BMS, MB, or BMT, indicate it is from a 320i. Hope this helps.
-
Yeah, but Mark has a 6 cyl and can't find a suitable box for it, less chance of finding a 4 cyl box to convert.
-
As far as I'm aware Mark, the only difference is the alignment of the bellhousing . they both have the same ratios etc, and the same bolt patterns, but the motors sit on different angles in the engine bay. This means that if you try to bolt up a 4 cyl box in your car it would be on an angle, hits the tunnel, linkages don't fit, I don't think it actually fits in the tunnel because of the angle.
-
Hey Mark, none of the 4 cyl boxes will fit your car, you need a 6 cyl box, pre face or face lift, both work I believe.

Hi, welcome, pics of car please. Idling issues could be ICV, idle control valve sticking, they need the odd clean, or maybe the throttle position sensor under the throttle body may need cleaning?
