I believe they do work in NZ, but you need to get the correct setup from BMW NZ, ring and ask a dealer.
  7. Latest cars got 362,000 on it, 88 318i, run a big end bearing, replacing rings and bearings now, anyone tell me the best place around Auckland for these parts? The rest of the cars on it's way to the wrecker, full of rust to the point it's falling apart. Cheers.
  8. Hi, if it's the same as my 318 m40, then it does have timing marks, they're just hard to find and decipher. The one on the pulley on the crank is on the 6th tooth past the timing void, just a punch mark which lines up with the arrow at about 1 or 2 oclock on the front lower housing next to it. The one on the toothed cam wheel is an arrow on the plastic centre, which has to line with the top of the upper ali housing which has 2 ridges on the top of it, the timing mark is the ridge on the left, the slightly lower one. I only found them by luck. I've just done the cam belt on my 318 and it seems to be running fine, no bangs or anything, took about 3 hrs, time was in removing all the bits on the front and replacing them.
  9. Hi, if it's the same setup as the facelift, then there should be 2 brackets which the bumper fits on, may need to source from wrecker? As for the pedal box, I've just compared an auto and a manual, and the only difference I can see is that bolt and the clutch pedal, so I don't see why you can't just change that if you think it's easier, the auto setup has all the fittings for the clutch.
  10. My guess Andy is it's off a M20 engine.

    Clutch Line

When I did my conversion, I had to get the solid line made up that goes from the master to the slave, local garage did it, same fittings as brake line, cost about $30 from memory. Should be able to get it made easily, doesn't have to be exactly the same, you've got a bit of room to play with, important bit is the first bend off the slave itself, needs to be fairly tight to miss the box.

    Clutch Line

Actually, any hydraulic or brake guys could make you up a piece of metal tube that would do the job if you don't have the original. Get a screw fitting on the end and pipe it from that. Only needs to be about 100m long with a 90 degree turn about 20 mm from the slave, then out 40mm, then another 90 degree down 40mm. Should end up looking like a Z nail. Then get your hose made up to fit, about 250 long I guess. See it here, part 20. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=21&fg=10

    Clutch Line

Mine has about 230mm of flex line, and 80mm metal line. If you're going for all flex line I'd make it a little longer, say 350, to allow for the bend off the fitting on the slave. I guess the metal piece keeps the flex line off the body, doesn't seem to hit anywhere. With all flex line I wouldn't be surprised if it rubbed on the body because of the way it has to go, may cause problems?
  21. Entry forms here http://www.classiccar.co.nz/img/WaiukuFlying50.pdf
  22. On Saturday the 25th of November there is an event being held at Pukekohe organised by Lotus NZ, open to pre 91 European cars. This is a Regulatory Trial, which if I have my facts right means you nominate a lap time, and then have to try to meet it consistantly. At Puke I believe the minimum time you can nominate is 1.20. The cost is $60 and you get 3 sessions for this I have been told, hopefully of 8 or 10 laps at a time. You get paired up with another car with a similar time, and are let go at 5 or 10 sec intervals. It was going to be held in Waiuku, but now it's at Puke they have decided to open up the classes of pre 1975 to pre 1991 European Cars for the Pukekohe track day provided additional entries are received by October 31st, when entries will close and supplementary regulations will be mailed out. (Current Registration, WOF and minimum Clubsport license required) More details are on the Lotus website at http://www.lotuscars.net.nz/newsite/index.php?view=news. This may be a cheap way to get some seat time for anybody who wants to get out there.
  23. I see that Turners in Tauranga have one coming up on the 17th of this month, tomorrow. Damaged vehicle auction, stolen and recovered, no external damage I can see, 148k. See here. http://www.turners.co.nz/TabId/188/vguid/2...46/default.aspx
  24. Yeah, I'm with Andy, the rest of the motor isn't worth anything without the head, I wouldn't let it go for less than $250 to $300.
