Its not to bad to do actually. We can get the whole front off in about 1hr to 1.5hr. Gives you heaps of room to work..specially on a hoist at chest level. First one would take you longer. Were doin them all the time

Very trueYou'll end up screwing it, if the compression is to high When I turbo'd a ford motor years ago I ran 8.5:1 comp and 20lbs boost Flared occasionaly to 22lbs We balanced the engine & cc corrected the combustion chambers We also did the calculations correctly and got the right comp ratio All good things take time...just be patient and get it right Cheers Glenn

When I originally did this conversion I was running the original 318TI small case 4.44:1 diff I then went to a 3.91:1 small case.....I still wasnt happy I have now done the medium case 3.64 and the gear changes were still not 100% Bloody hell !!!! I FORGOT !!! Cleared adaptive modes in DME @ EGS yesterday She's all sweet now I was so busy I forgot that my install has adaptive modes in the ECU's. They had adapted to the original diff ratio and were all up the sh*t.

The formular is : Swept volume + unswept volume divided by unswept volume Go figure ???......lol Can really only be done properly with head off...unless you already know the cc rating of the combustion chamber Combustion chamber=unswept volume You must also allow for the headgasket too because that creates more unswept volume The swept volume = Bore area X stroke Domed or dished piston tops also + or - the unswept volume You must measure the combustion chamber with fluid, using the spark plugs you will run in the car. Spark plugs also have volume around the electrode. When balancing an engine all this is taken into account, measuring and equalising the combustion chamber volumes so all cylinders are equal. All this must be measured to be 100% accurate Confused now ?? Cheers Glenn

Diff_mod.bmp Diff_mod_2.bmp Diff_mod_3.bmp Diff_mod_4.bmp We rushed this last Monday without doing the mods.....should not have done this Never, ever assume and take your time......we are always learning Anyway, its all done now (properly) and I'm pleased with the result Picture 1 shows the indents you have to do to the chassis rail with a small ball pein hammer- takes a bit of time to get it neat and tidy. Picture 3 shows were you have to grind off about 5mm from the forward, rear hangar mount bracket so that it doesnt touch the diff cassing Picture 4 the end result.... no gear noise transfer and no vibration... spare wheel just clears the speed sensor when fitted. Cheers Glenn

Is the rubber boot over the micro switch fitting correctly ??? This will cause it not to work. Take the number plate off and flick the switch out. Check the rubber boot for correct fitting and check the micro switch operation. The boots get pushed in because people force them in when lifting to trunk open. Hope that helps Cheers Glenn
