*Glenn* replied to Matthew's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
I totaly agree with you there Cam -
The car will be lower than 100mm in the front..we took them off a car for that reason....he couldnt get a WOF without a cert

Should we all bring boxing gloves at the next meet ???

Dont use the cork gasket. Use the Urethane. Make sure its spotlessly clean...use white spirits Smear both surfaces and then run a bead on both sides of the bolt holes. Nip the sump bolts...leave for half an hour..then tighten You could actualy take all the bolts out for eva after 24 hrs... It wont leak Panelbeating Supplies sell the Eurothane we use Ring me if you need some..or ring them Cheers Glenn
-
Yes you can do it like that too But if it leaks....its all got to come out again I said a very strange word here......."PROPERLY" Cheers Glenn
-
To do it properly...you need to drop the sump and take the rear seal housing off and do it on the bench. Dont use a sump gasket on reassembly...most are cork & crack between the bolt holes. Clean with white spirits and use grey Eurothane sealant ( not silicone ) Cheers Glenn

There is no budget on the E30 project....I wanted to start with a mint car and go from there Theres plenty of info in here and others have been down this path before The only help I need is finding the right people or person who can do the ECU to run the motor My preference is a M54 twin Vanos motor 2.8 or 3.0 Litre with manual gearbox ( if I can find one ) If not I'll use a M52B28 like I did with the compact Cheers Glenn

I'm really glad you can see we are serious about this I know modifications are of personal taste and I agree with you there Lights, exhausts, seats, mirrors and wheels ( even a japa spoiler ) if your that way inclined are all personal However, when it comes to suspension, steering & brakes YOU NEED TO BE SERIOUS !!!!! Get the right, professional advise and do it properly I would hate to see a member get killed or end up killing someone else on our roads because of this sort of thing Alot of people in here can help members do it right LISTEN TO THEM !! Cheers Glenn -

Evryone that sits below 100mm mark

I totaly agree with you Keith. I see it everyday..... "cheap" and broken And the broken "cheap piece" always damages something else....Murphy's law "QUALITY IS NEVER CHEAP" However...a reasonable discount on a quality product has to be a bargain "SOME THINGS COST MORE FOR A REASON".......hard to get people to learn this simple truth Cheers Glenn -
BuggaDidnt work...I'll fax it Thought it might be interesting for others to see Cheers Glenn
-
Here ya go Interesting isnt it ??
-
PM me with your fax number and I'll send you all the BMW info on your car No engine number recorded tho.....which sometimes happens ( a lazy krout ) You will have to raise the car and check the area I told you about before Cheers Glenn
-
FA72649 identifies your car for options and spare parts. It is not your engine number. Unless your car has been modified or had an engine swap it is not 2949cc it will be 2494cc Y do you need the specific engine number ?? Its on the block, on a machined surface just below the starter. I'll try and get it for you of the vehicle data base. Cheers Glenn
-
His car would be M50B25 ( non Vanos ) or M50B25TU ( Vanos ) TU = Technical Upgrade Cheers Glenn
-
I'm a club member too & I advertise in Dixi ( with discounts ) Cheers Glenn
-
Can you still enter even tho you havent raced in the previous sessions ?? I could be interested.... try and get under my best of 15.32 Cheers Glenn
-
I hope the fun your going to have is on a track or in a paddock and not on our roads Just an old fart talkin here tho No offence implied Cheers Glenn
-
The engine type will be either M50B25 or M52B25 (with Vanos)...dependant on year The engine number can be determined by the last 7 digits of the Vin number ie: ET56746 All parts for your car can be purchased by that number If you want the actual engine number ( for wot ever reason ) ring the dealer and quote that number EASY Cheers Glenn

want to go low az!! with good handling
*Glenn* replied to charlie01's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
My 2 cents worth here and I'm not trying to stirr it up But shouldnt you all be talking about going low and staying safe ?? You guys have nice cars that you worked hard for....looking "cool" is fine...but do it properly Get the right advise from people in the industry....not "mate's" I know it costs to do it properly, but thats wot you should be doing Decide wot you want to do, see if its legal, safe, get the right advise, and then go shopping 100mm is the legal limit....without a cert Done properly, you can get a cert for a lower car......mine is certified at 70mm We have sponsors in here that can help you and give you the right advise... TALK TO THEM !!! We have Keith @ H&R springs..he does coil overs too Ph. 021378902 Chris @ Suspension Tech Ph. 2731232 or 0272145325 And for wheels & tyres talk to our new sponsors Mag & Tyres Direct There are many others in here too that have gone down that road, and done it properly My advise would be: Dont cut, grind, compress, remove or heat anything Buy good gear and do it right.... your car, your life or someone elses may depend on it PLEASE PLAY SAFE Glenn -
I have some springs to get rid of (1) Full set of King Supa Lows for E36 sedan 6cylinder (not legal tho) $100 (2) Full set of standard E36 6 cylinder springs $100 (3) Full set of New B&G E46 sedan 4 cylinder...40mm drop $200 Cheers Glenn Ph. (09) 2722546

One at the top and one at the bottom. Should be a flat washer between the spring & the bottom seal as well. Cheers Glenn

Its probably one of the hoses. Take the stone tray off, clean all the hoses off, road test and check which hose is leaking. Could also be the cooler hose "O" rings where they go into the cooler.
