  1. Buy a new one... these are prone for giving problems
  2. The getrag 260 out of the E30 is probably not the right application for an E39. I'd be looking at the correct manual box or a ZF out of E36 or E46 328 manual- very hard to find though, and expensive
  3. Might be a good idea http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-stories/1...n-this-weekend/
  4. You will get a few more HP, but you will loose the torque from the engine. That is what the M52B28 manifold was designed for. Personaly I wouldn't do it on an Auto... I think you will be dissapointed. This mod is more suited to a manual vehicle with other mods to go with it.

  6. Something is broken on the gear selector inside. The AA damaged the shift cable when it wouldn't go into gear. We fitted a new cable however there is a fault inside. The owner doesnt want to fix it, so we havent even taken the pan off to see whats wrong. Car is surplus to his needs. I thought this would be ideal for anyone wanting to do a E30 M50 conversion, because all the engine goodies are on this car. Edit: I had the car driving back & forth in the workshop, but the gearchange was very stiff. I tried freeing it up once the engine & box warmed up by moving it back & forth and something inside let go. So I'm not too sure whats going on inside.

  9. You will also need to address the SRS issues as well. Occupancy sensor in the passengers seat and seat belt retractor stalks in both seats. For the seat belts.
  10. The E30 is Andrew's / Gus's old car isn't it ??
  11. Our diagnostic fee, confirmation of fault, hard copy and reset are incorporated in the repair account of fixing the fault you may have. We provide a warranty with this repair and will only use genuine or known quality paralell imported parts. We have a separate charge for people wanting to know whats wrong with their cars for someone else to fix. We quite often provide this service for regular customers, freinds and supporters of our business for free. Feel free to give me a call (09) 2722546
  12. If the SRS llight is on there will be fault, which must be repaired. Turning the light off till it occurs again is not the correct or a safe proceedure. Most common fault is the passengers seat occupancy sensor or the seat belt retractor wiring looms which have now been superceeded. It would need to be scanned first. A quality scanner is note a cheap service tool to purchase.
  13. I'm probably wrong Brent. I'd have to check it.. I've only driven it a couple of times this year... I was going to get it remapped. Just had a look at a Ti Dash... your right Brent. Should be 6,500 RPM + or - 100rpm.. I was going to get it remapped and set to 7
  14. 7k + 0r - a hundred rpm. This can be altered when you get it remapped though
  15. It won't be the shafts that are holding it together. It will probably be the bearings stuck in the casings, and obviously these bearings are pessed onto the shafts. How does the manual suggest opening it up ??
  16. It's more likely to be the crank main bearings, and gearbox bearings holding it all together. There is a proceedure to split these. Do you have a manual Andrew. When I worked at Whites Yamaha 40 years ago we had a very comprehensive set of tools to do these. Especialy on the 2 strokes. Dont use screwdrivers or metal wedges to do this. Looking at your project thread I would say it's probably terminal with what you have already done to this motor and perhaps not worth repairing.
  17. Selling on behalf. 1992 E34 First registered 1993. NZ new 525i Non Vanos, Engine complete with sump, wiring loom & DME. Non EWS done 61,000km.... yes 61,000km. Motor appears to be fine... the vehicle has a problem with the ZF 5HP18 trans. $1,500 ONO There is a catch though...... I want the whole friggen car removed from my workshop.
  18. I could do a scan tomorrow to see whats going on... but we are fully booked
  19. Dry sump is probably the only way to go.. ask Alex from Carspot. About $10k for the kit I'm told. Guys in the South are using a special ELF 15w40 oil in their S50's. It's a very high Zinc grade oil.. can find out the part code tomorrow. I have supplied it before.
  20. Have you got an info link about this Josh.... curious to know what you mean. Youve mentioned it a couple of times in the last 2 weeks
  21. Doesn't help at all. In alot of cases you need to use a stethescope to locate the source of these types of problems & noises.... I would also agree you have a noise that would piss the hell out of alot of people. BTW: The noises sound like the work bench in a chinese brothel creaking
